Doubt It!
Hi Guys
Does anyone know if 7,9 and 10 is going to be available in Perth on D3 when it launches ?

Doubt It!
When In Doubt - Make It Into A Coffee Table.
60% chance of 7, 40% chance of 10 and 1% chance of 9.
That's my opinion anyway.
* Bill Paxton is the only actor to be killed by Alien, a Terminator, and the Predator.
Hmm would have been zero percent if not possible in a million years. It could technically happen (and Bruce shares D3! Hah!) and therefore gets 1%
* Bill Paxton is the only actor to be killed by Alien, a Terminator, and the Predator.
My gut feeling is that it will happen for sure. It may not happen overnight but will happen.
Simple: FTA ratings slipping as growing % of people watch TV via Foxtel/ Austar box. Much cheaper to pay transponder costs of being on the service than to lose even 1 or 2% of rating points.
p.
Do you reckon more people are on Foxtel Cable in Perth, or satellite? This probably will influence their decision.
Personally, I think it's bullshit, and the networks should pull their fingers out of their arses and get on Foxtel quick-smart before their ratings take any more tumbles.. that especially includes 9 Perth.
Yes,, mostly satellite in Perth
As stated by Mullo, there is VERY little cable in Perth after all , This is the state of "Wait A while"..

After the money they wasted cabling Sydney and Melbourne, all the fights, complaints and arguments I dont think cable will ever be a considered option.
Maybe a snowballs chance in hell but if anything I think when and if they do this Optic Fibre rollout, MAYBE it could be used as the 'New Cable'.
But it will have to be undeground as there are already grumblings when it was suggested that to speed up the Roll Out, the Optic Fibre be run above ground.
But why would you go cable with all its costs when you have just launched a new satelitte?
There's more to cable than just Pay TV. What about data??? There is more demand for internet connectivity than pay TV.
The reason there are HFC (Hybrid fibre coax) networks is because Optus was building one. They had no phone network either so it was for TV, DATA and phone. The technology at time of rollout was still unproven on a large scale and I remember the guys at work couldn't even get the gear to work in the lab! Telstra didn't want a competitor rolling out a network that may give it a competitive edge so they decided to roll out a HFC network also even though they had the options of satellite for TV, ADSL (which was being trialed at the time - mid nineties) and thier existing POTs network. For ADSL they wouldn't need to roll out new infrastructure as the copper network was already in the ground.
Telstra started hauling all the fibre/coax underground through it's existing pit and pipe infrastructure but it compete with the speed of Optus hanging up overhead cable hence Telstra in the end did the same.
Incidentally there was a demo fibre to the node network set up in one of the labs back in '95. All this technology isn't new!!
