Talking Belkin "Wireless Access Point Manager" software

    All,

I've dusted off an old Belkin wireless access point to use and it turns out that I need the original Belkin "Wireless Access Point Manager" software to configure the thing.

The original CD is long gone, Belkin's website is under reconstruction and doesn't have it, and I've lodged a support ticket AND called them, all to no avail.

If somebody has an old Belkin config CD and would be happy to zip the EXE up and e-mail it to me, I'd be tickled pink!

    Thanks in advance,
    Pom

Log into the internal config page and set it up like that, highly doubt you need the CD

    I thought the same.

This thing is quite old, doesn't have a html interface (But does have a default IP address that I can't connect to), and appears to need this silly program.

    Cheers,

Hard reset the device you may have changed the default IP, connect it directly to your pc via etherenet.
You may need to asdign the pc a static ip different to the device but in the same subnet

    Tried all of that.

Default IP 192.168.0.254 - Set my PC to 192.168.0.200 - not able to connect.

Read the manual about 10 times, and it appears the only way to connect is with software?

older devices do NOT have web interfaces and contolled by software only, i have a similar device. good luck in searching for the software even though it should be available from the manufacturers website

After spending an hour on the phone to somewhere in southern outer Mongolia (apologies to anybody from Mongolia!) the guy said I did need the software and to check the website every few hours to see if it's been uploaded!

Apparently he didn't have access to it on the intranet either.

Somebody will have it kicking around, or I'll have to search more when I'm home again.

    Cheers.

    Ta,

Found that one. All it had was links to junk and where the file should be had the following (in tiny print!)

"We don't have a download link yet, but you can find it using ."

But thanks for taking the time to look. Just got off the phone to them again, and they say in another 48 hours the support website should be back to normal! Funny, yesterday they said it would be back up in 4 hours.

    Bloody computers.......

    Cheers,
    Pom

Well, I've called them 3 times, and been lied to every time.

I've asked 3 on line questions, and got 3 replies saying they will get back to me within 1 day and heard nothing for 5 days...... until this evening.......

when they send me a link to a SURVEY on how the support team is doing!

Well done guys. I know what I'll be buying next time I need networking gear.

    Crikey!

The device doesn't accept any connection?
Some older devices (HP JetDirect spring to mind), while not having a native Web interface , did allow Telnet to them for setup.
You could scan the device for open ports and then try a Telnet to anything that responds...
    Just a thought.

    telnet ?
You had me wondering if I was off with the pixies again for a moment...

Yes Telnet, the old world, not "spoon feed me and wipe my bum" browser stuff ..
You actually had to deal with text and typed commands.

telnet, Rlogin, @attach@ ...those were the days.

Hadn't thought of resorting to telnet sessions. Still no support from Belkin.

    Not giving up yet!

If it were for me, I'd just buy a new one, but I'm setting this up for another bloke as a favor. Nothing at all in it for me, so I'd prefer not to spend a cent!

Belkin sent me a link to the software last night and I now have it!

    Cheers,

    The saga continues.......

The software that was sent appears to be an updated version, that doesn't work.

Can "See" the WAP browsing the wireless networks, can ping it on the LAN but not connect to configure.

Anybody found an old CD collecting dust?

    Cheers,
    Pom

Well, be jiggered. Belkin finally found the file that worked.

I'll try and upload it here, but if all else fails, PM me and I'll send it through.

    Installed and tested working.

I have inherited one from my dad's estate, so I'm interested in using it on my TV. Don't want to spend money on something when the box is just sitting there doing nothing.

    Cheers
