    Default Reccommend a LNB

    Hi Guys,

The LNB on my 1.8m (solid) Prime focus dish appears to have died, (Ku 11300, it is only a 15 years old unit too... )

    I use this dish for AS4, D2, C1, D1, I8, ATM

I am thinking about replacing it with a Prime Focus Ku Universal LNB,

I then may get some more channels on some more Ku Satellites too,

or do you think, I should I be replacing with a Ku 10700 LNB or a Ku/C LNB Combo, or just a C band LNB ?

& Where would be a good place to buy it ? I live in the NSW Hunter Valley area, but, don't mind paying for postage,

    Your thoughts appreciated

    Cheers

Id be leaning towards C/ku, 1,8m is an overkill for KU but the equivalent (or there abouts) of a 2.3m mesh.

That way you would still get the main ku channels and C band ones too.

    Thanks Godzilla,

I'm leaning the same way now too,

    I'm thinking about this one,

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it looks like having a Universal Ku band LNB & a normal C Band LNB,

    & it's for a Prime Focus dish,

    Thanks for your reply,

    cheers

Yep, universal for ku, normal c band and for a prime focus dish. Also does both polarities.

For the combined Ku/C Band lnb, how do you tune this? Is there any trick to it?

I mean which band do you use when tuning a focusing the lnb?

They both get the signal coming through the same wave guide.

Its one LNB with 4 probes inside, 2 for C and the other 2 for Ku.

Obviously you could use any band, if pointing to a Cband sat use cband, if pointing to D2 use Ku band for tuning.

I just ordered one of these

We'll see how it goes. I saw those strongs just after I bought this but if specs are anything to go by this seems a little better. It's a Universal Ku and C so that should have me covered.
