Default TomTom Truck navcore on TomTom Navigator?

I have a HP iPAQ with TomTom Navigator installed (v7.915.916 thanks to Downunder35m's post on this site).

Is there a way to get the truck navcore installed? I had a try to copying likely files over from Downunder35m's truck Navcore 9.000.1637 download (meant for normal PND's) with no success. (I made backups).

Sure should be no problem :
Just install the Tomtom Linux Kernel on your device - make sure you modify it to suit your hardware.
Get touch screen out of an old Tomtom and mount it on your device.
Make sure to mount your SD card with the right parameters using a modified bootloader and ttsystem.
Install the truck Navcore and a map and enjoy.

Sorry for the bad joke ,but I could not resist!
Your device is based on windows and the Tomtom's run on a special Linux core ,so they are not compatible at all.
I don't think Tomtom will ever support or develop a truck version for PDA because they have special models in their range with built in slots for a sim card to enable fleet management as well.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping the core files would be the same and they use an emulator/loader for the Windoze. Or some would have gone to the effort of making a patched version.

These truck versions, I've not seen them ANYWHERE. Any links?

What do you mean the Software or the maps?
Right now there is only on truck map available and it's an old 815 version.

You said there's models in their range with fleet management etc.
I've never seen anything that accepts sim cards etc.

I can't believe nobody in Aust sells a "truckies" GPS. I programmed a trip from Albury to Sale into my unit and it recommended the WORST route for a truck. Twisty hilly roads where snow chains are required.

Needless to say I'll be using my truckies atlas to plan the route I'll take.

Well ,there are two big problems :
    1. you'll need a Truck map - Tomtom works with SENSIS for Australia and SENSIS does not provide the necessary details for a TRUCK MAP.
    2. if you want to see these models have a look and check it all out.

Park-assist is normally the ultra sonic detectors at the rear (and sometimes front) of the vehicle so people won't crash into walls while reversing. Perhaps this is for an in-built nav center where it's linked to the reversing switch and detectors warn you on screen.

And those navcores are for dedicated GPS devices, which run Linux. I've thought about running Linux on my PPC, but then my current TomTom wouldn't work. Unless there's a TomTom version that works on Linux as an executable program (ie, doesn't have it's own boot loader etc.
