Default Why no HDMI input ?

Why do DVD recorders do not have a HDMI input?

You purchase a HD TV and then you find that sports event one ONE HD is on at 1am.

Then if you record it from a HD settop box to you dvd recorder you don;t get full HD. Am I doing somthing wrong or why do the sell a lot of equpiment with HDMI in BUT NO recorders with HDMI in? Even with foxtel you can't save a movie or a special sports program to a DVD. Just to the internal hard drive for viewing later. The copy of these via A/V cables is not as good as the original SD or HD picture.

You answer is the lower part of your post, it is all to do with re-broadcasting the transmission. Like the start of a DVD, do not show on Oil-rigs etc. If you let people copy HD then they will have a HD product to re-broadcast. Copywrite.

The only solution I know of is to use HTPC with tuner cards which will let you to record to hard drive and burning to the DVD at a later stage.

P.S. Obviously DVD in SD format. If you have lets say Blue ray burner then HD will be an option.

Thanks for all your info, it is a shame that you take out a A/V input and replace it with a hdmi. Any ideas?

Ideas? AV (RCA) inputs are old technology and give poor picture quality. HDMI is new technology & offers great picture quality.
