I noticed today the tenants of a house that has an IPSTAR internet dish on the roof have moved out.
Now being a devious sod, I was wondering if this dish ever became surplus, is there any reason why it cant be realigned and using only the receiving LNB which without checking my settings, is a Ku 11300.
Would it be equal to an 80cm or 90 cm perhaps??
If it was removed to another place, I think it would be esssential to take the mount as its bigger than a standard Pay/Aurora mounting.

Just had a look at my dish and can't see why not, The LNB holder seems to be about the same size.
Don't know about the ownership legalities but I think when the contract period runs out the ownership of the dish etc reverts to the householder.
I signed an 18 month when I started with ownership reverting to me after the contract finished but now many dont seem to insist on a contract period or if they do its not very long.
Only thing I am curious about now as mine has expired, if any part of the system fails, who fix's/pays for repairs/replacements ??
Thats a rhetorical question everyone because unless you have the contract I signed and have read all the fineprint, if it says anything about this anyway, no one can answer this question except to quote their own experiences.
I have a 1 year contract with Activ8me and during that year they are responsible for repairing the equipment.
When the contract expires the ownership of the equipment and responsibility for the cost of repairs becomes mine, however if I wish to I can pay $15 a month extra as insurance.
blackduck, did they ever give you a quote on a call out or even if the Tech would come out if your not insured?
No nothing, The bloke set up the dish and cabling, tested it, told me that if it seems to be misbehaving turn the power off for 20 seconds then on again, should be all right, any problems ring the number on the contract, Have a nice day.
I don't know what happens if I have to reinstall XP.
Blackduck, I have done that part myself but what I meant was what if the modem or one of the LNB's dies or as happened to me 6 months after the origonal install, water got into one of the F connectors at the LNB and they had to replace the cable.
A couple of lousy drops of water stopped everything cold.
I don't understand what you're asking. Didn't you say that you had an 18 month contract?.
And as you said yours failed due to ingress of water in the first 6 mths.
Did they charge you for the call and to repair/replace the cable?.
If your question is who would be responsible for any repairs if you acquire and use the dish and feed line from your neighbor's place for say Aurora or Fox reception, then obviously you are.
As to who legally owns the dish, that's a different question.
