    Talking Optus Aurora TV Guide

    If there are any viewers out there with the full Aurora bouquet (GWN, WIN, Imp, SCTV, ABC, SBS), you might like to check out the new TV Guide I've launched on my website:

    If there's any problems with it, please let me know.

    Otherwise, I hope it's of some use to us Aurora folk. I've also provided detailed program changes/premieres for your information.

    G'Day Cobber,
    Just brilliant.
    Perhaps I missed it, but any plans to input your own time?
    Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".
    PS: Will pass it on to the tribe.

    Thanks beer!

    I've decided to work on a form style menu at the top of the Rural guide, enabling the visitor to change timezones. I'll post updates as it happens...

    Great idea if you can get it to work Smacca, I just tried Rural and got the message "Page not Found".

    Tried again and got the page header but no information.

    Will be really useful when you get the bugs out.

    Great work.

    Yeah, sorry about that. I'm trying to get the site to remember what timezone the visitor selects, so they don't have to keep selecting it every time they visit.

    I'll leave that feature for later though. Right now I'm uploading data for all timezones, and soon it'll be back up and running.

    I didn't realise an Aurora guide would generate this much interest. Makes it worthwhile.

    Righto, she's back up and running. Timezones available are:

    * WST
    * CST
    * EST
    * CDST
    * EDST

    EDST uses ABC/SBS from NSW, and EST uses ABC/SBS from Qld.

    I've tested it here by changing my PC clock to the relative timezone and it all checks out. Let me know if there are any errors that I may have missed.

    Great job Smacca, Worked like a charm for me.

    Now all you have to do is add a Forward Search function so that the missus can enter:

    Enter Search name: The Closer.

    Search Results for: The Closer.

    GWN,
    26/10/09, 20.30.
    01/11/09, 20.30.
    08/11/09, 20.30.
    etc.

    You get the picture, I'll be back in about 1/2 an hour to see how you went.

    Cheers,
    OptimistDuck.

    As Michael Caton once said; "Tell her she's dreamin'"

    I haven't really grasped searching for data in an xmltv file yet, which is needed in this case. There are a number of ways to do it, but it would suck the life out of me to even think about it.

    There is a way, but it will take a while. Maybe some time in the future?

    Well we tell you about the shortcomings inherent in your program, and all you can come up with is lame excuses...

    Thanks anyway Smacca.

    I used to rely on windy's postings when the missus used to watch Days of Our Lives and the Bold and the Beautiful to keep track of the time zones when Daylight savings kicked in but now I have them both on FTA, she only watchs B&B and doesnt care if she misses an episode or not.

    Hmm, not sure mate. Does it actually say "Preparing grid" or is it "Loading tv.xsl?"

    Give this URL a go (it's basically the guide without the WAtv site wrapped around it..):

    Let me know how it goes.
