aldi portable nuclear reactor
Wow I would be able to get Homer a Job here in Australia
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
I was looking at one myself. You can't really go wrong at that price.
It's not much more expensive than it was to complete the one that used
to be available as a kit, and I'd much rather a prebuilt one.
I imagine with the thousands of them out there, that the treasure is going to be discovered before long
Then you can throw it in the garage with the rest of your crap.
I can't hire one for that for the day!
Have lost a tooth from the jaws of the bob cat in the dirt and need a detector to find it.
Might get one for the job and when the bakkies go flat I'll toss it.
It only has a 30cm range so you're probably out of luck
Yep , as Nomeat said Thursday is the day. They line up at the doors 30 mins before opening and clout you with walking sticks and umbrellas if you push in. If any smell like dogfood farts , its either marrakai news or bollie
So the cheap tent they had last week was for camping in front of the stores on Wednesday nights?
I know where the treasure is. I already found a very large rusty nail
or bolt unaided, and I think wherever that is, there might be something else.
Perhaps we can start another thread about it after Thursday.
Next week it will be the cheap sleeping bag, so the oldies can camp out now that the weather is getting cooler, either that or they can demo one of the nuclear reactors, the cheap shielding should keep everyone within a bulls roar nice and warm.
Common sense isn't !!!
Got one today, there were plenty left:
Here's the catch:
But it does come with 3 cheap Chinese 9Volt batteries.
I'm just not going to gamble on how long they will last when I take it out.
The headphones are Gh3y 80's style Walkman headphones, but it's a stereo plug
so the newer earbuds should work. I only want to use one ear.
Art.
Any chance of a close up of the unit Art ? How do you rate it on first impressions ?
Art, you will find that most detectors use quite a lot of batteries.
It might not be a disadvantage that those light 9V blocks are used.
More professional units have a separate battery pack to attach to your belt.
Aldi sometimes has the 9V blocks as rechargeables for $4,99 each.
Perhaps you could scan or photo a page from the instructions that explains the knobs and buttons and any technical data if possible.
If it could detect a $2 coin @20cm free air that would already be extremely good for that price.
I would expect more like 10cm.
I've only played with it a bit using my keys on their keyring.
I know the military use units over $3000, so it's hard to be fair. How do you rate it on first impressions
Just looking at the casing, shaft, feel of knobs/switches, etc. I'd rate it ok.
See if I've changed my mind after I've used it in the bush though.
I will probably bury a steel bolt with the trowel I got today.
I'd guess you are about right just from playing with my keys, but haven't reallyIf it could detect a $2 coin @20cm free air that would already be extremely good for that price.

read instructions properly.
knobs are: sensitivity, ground, discrimination, tune, and a rotary mode switch
There's a volume knob on the other side of the headphone jack too.
I just got the stuff to mix the audio with my PSP for mp3 player
nomeat, is it ok to just parrallel up the stereo outputs?
Would you recommend diodes to protect the audio output stage of the PSP?
Something like this, I put an mp3 player in the clock program so it can play mp3s and announce the time over the metal detector sound.
One better would be to feed the Metal detector output into the PSP
audio input, and digitise it, then represent it on the PSP screen.
At least I haven't broken anything yet.
