Default foxtel satellite channels breaking up

Hi there... wondering if anyone is experiencing serious break-up of 111Hits, Sky News and Sky Business news on Foxtel Satellite.. I'm in a Sydney apartment building.. Had this problem for at least a week.. All other channels work fine. Foxtel help line has been useless.. any word on why?..something to do with the new satellite?

Is this a genuine foxtel box?

If so, go to page 998 and what does it say as the number in the top of screen?

yes is a genuine box.. not an iq though.. the LNB is set at 10.7..
i did that very thing for the foxtel help line.. the operator seemed to have no idea why these particular channels are breaking up.. the best advice was just to wait until nov 15th.. and if not working then, to call them back..

Does the fox box have a signal strength meter in its menu ? If so what does it say ?

Bad weather will cause the picture to break up , particuarly on a 60 cm dish.

Other than that , tell them you will cancel if they dont send someone out

i have seen a lot of this problem in buildings lately. SOme channels go but not directly related any specific transponder. I will have changed 14 sat amps(sat42's) up to this week. I am not sure why the amps are failing - signal strength is fine but the MER is low, but swap it out and all is good.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this explain why only three channels on my satellite service are playing up (111Hits, Sky news and Sky Business) but every other channel is fine?. And would fixing it require a foxtel technician to come out, or does the apartment building management need to pay for its own tech to come and make the changes? cheers.

Wouldn't that drop all satellite channels? I'm in a 9 floor MDU that has a single wire 11300 system on the 29th of Oct in between 8-10pm everything went "No Signal" I'm yet to determine if its just my apartment or the whole floor...

Thanks for the heads up on the GME Amps

It Sounds like a pore aliment and or incorrectly cross-poled

A simple twist of the LNB will soon tell you if the cross pole is out

On Saturday night Nov 14 there is going to be some major software updates as both Fox and Austar re arrange the channel line ups in their STB's and 'open' all the new channels.
That along with any other updates will either improve reception or cause loss, who knows untill its done?
You can bet for the last few weeks they have been working towards opening day to make it appear seemless but even the best plans can have hurdles.
Unless the signal was really bad and unwatchable, I think I would wait as its only 12 days to go.
If the service isnt what you think it should be by midweek, make the call.

On the 29th , I suspect a tech changed the lnb on your building to a 10700. You will need to change the LO on your decoder

Maybe. The other thing that has been causing problems is when a single wire system is changed to 10700 some units are losing sky news and sky business and fox 8. These units usually have had a splitter on the wallplate instead of a reversed diplexer- swap it out and usually comes good. Job for fox/aus though, it is their responsability

didn't think a 10700 would work at all if the box thinks it's LO is 11300 unless your a fan of blindscan and some wildly drifted frequencies...

    can someone clarify?

cheers, thanks for that.. i think i will wait to see what happens on Nov 15 and then call foxtel to get a tech around if the channels are still playing up.
