Default Austar Mystar Remote Control Problems

Are there any Mystar users out there that have major issues with the remote control not doing what it is sposed to?
When i change channels it jumps to the Austar page, Mutes the TV, Doesn't work at all, basically does everything it wants to and nothing i want it to do.
I have contacted Austar and they told me it was the Plasma TV causing issue , but i have moved the box away form there and still has the same issue, they mentioned something about putting some sort of film across the sensor on the box also? Has anyone got a fix for this or even have the same issue?

my mate had a similar issue. still cant work it out so he went back to standard box and all was fine.

i've seen stuff like this before.
had a customer tv work fine in the shop... took it home and the remote makes the tv go bezerk like volume muting and channel changing.
i put it down to some sort of environmental interference, but could never find the source.

My foxtel IQ remote does the same thing, as does another mate of mine. I would be cycling through channels and it would mute or it would play a recorded program.

There is an issue with very few plasma's and mystar remotes, the easy way to check if yours is affecting the remote is to turn off the tv, try change the channels and see what the box does.
I have also seen the energy saver down lights affect these remotes.
You can cover the ir sensor on the decoder with film negative, i have seen this work.

    Quote from a whirlpool thread:
"The Infra Red (IR) sensor sometimes doesn't read the remote signal due to extra IR leakage from many LCDs and Plazmas getting in the way and 'blocking' the signal from the hand held remote. A piece of cellotape blackened with texta, a small square of x-ray film or film negative placed over the IR sensor on the IQ2 (and IQ presumably) should improve things. It did for us."

Thanks for the tip after a bit of research i used a bit of floppy disk , broke it and cut a square piece out of it and taped it on the receiver on the box , now working like a charm

    Default a solution

If your TV has a light sensor turn this off and the remote works fine.
