    Default Copying Select tv cards

Is it possible to copy a genuine select tv card in case we lose the genuine one. OR use the copy and put the genuine one in a safe place . we're travellers and often misplace stuff. I couldnt live without my sat tv.

    Cheers Rod

Just leave the card in the decoder Rod, much harder to misplace...

@ OP - no there currently is no method of creating a 'backup' card for your mate of your genuine Select Irdeto 2 card. That goes for Austar and Aurora as well.

The cards are so cheap that if you loose one it would be cheaper to buy one than buy/build a programmer etc and try and find a blank card etc to program.

Simple answer...... no, you can't copy it.

Leaving it in the decoder is the best idea, however, as travellers, would I be right in thinking you may also swap cards to use Aurora?

If this is the case and you only have a single card slot decoder, have a small container in a cupboard in your van/vehicle close to your decoder and place the card not being used at the time in it. Get in the habit of putting it in the same place every time.

If using two cards, it may be worthwhile having a decoder with two card slots, so there's no need then to remove them.

Not only does this lessen the chances of misplacing the card/s, but it also prevents excessive wear on the card and slot contacts from frequent card insertion/removal.

I wouldn't say that they are cheap, if u get 2 that's a fair bit of money each month

if u genuinely are worried about loosing your card i suggest you buy a receiver with two slots. if you could create a backup card the pay tv networks would go broke because piracy would get out of hand and nobody would actually be paying to view their services. Hence the fact that you cannot "clone" a card

    Default Spare Card

If Everybody hacked cards for any reason or another, then we would not have Carriers to provide us with service. That is the reason Counter Measures are deployed every few days.

If you have purchased a legitimate SelecTV Package, Then Give Them a call . I am sure they will be happy to help, Because They Want Your MONEY.

ahhhh, the 'Counter Measures Employed' in this instance came in the shape of a walloper taping them on the shoulder and saying, 'You'r Knicked' !!!

I just never heard what their 'Prize' was.

Sure they can be copied... It's just the cost to do so that's the killer.
In the case of counter measures then it's been easy for the providers to do this because there are no public updates for the gamma team code. But if this code was made public then it would be a totaly different story. There would be a 'counter measure' for the 'counter measure' ..

@ LeroyPatrol - You left Foxtel, was that intentional or mere typing mistake.

@ Dishnit - "Countermeasures" - can you please elaborate.
