    Default two things

    1:
I found that toolhlp.dll removes the error "ProcExists requires toolhlp.dll" if it goes into the runGMXT. However that hasnt got me running.

    2:
HollowMan Any ideas as to why garmin needs file explorer to run. I have a new 1 Din Chinese "all in one", Running Win CE 5.0 Build 1400 on a Samsung Arm920 chip.

When I run from the script, I can see the commands in the mortscript running but que.exe doesn't come up. If I run the script contents manually i.e. using CECommander to run explorer.exe followed by que.exe from apps\wm (not worrying about restoring/saving settings yet) I get a message in Chinese which roughly translated says "que.exe not a valid windows ce application"

I have managed to get IGO8 working well, unfortunately the NZ map while largely complete has a limited address database. TomTom, sort of, in as much that it will run but sometimes fails with out of memory, and when it does run the time on the device essentially scrolls. Symptomatic of a memory leak.

I have had all of these running on my Imate Jasjam WM5.

Any thoughts on how we can pull this apart to get this to run.

When you had this running on your 2 DIN Chinese device can you advise CE build and Processor

    Thanks In Advance

    Richard

that que.exe is designed to run on windows mobile, not CE, thats why the garmin.exe translates that and allowes it to run... you cant run garmin on a ce device with que.exe

tomtom is very hard to get working on old ce devices, always the dreaded out of memory error.... nothing you can do about it really.

Hi Hollowman, just spent most of the day using your Tutorial, and have (at last) got Garmin running, but like Crowy back a few months, I can't get any satellite coverage. I read all of this forum and tried the above advise
    The settings show in "Disable"
    4 choices:
    1 Use Bluetooth GPS
    2 Use GPS Intermediate Driver
    Use Serial GPS:-
    3 COM1: TMC_COM
    4 COM2: GPS_COM
I've tried them all but it still sits with about 20% Yellow "Scanning Attached"
Any Help would be greatly appreciated!! - BlindPete

    Hey Hollowman,

(One from left field) Is there any way to sync the system time to Garmin time when it is loaded on an in dash 2Din??? I understand that there is no time setting in Garmin itself.

I have seen a timesync exe file in some of the RunGMXT files but have never been able to get the script in mortscript to work - any clues???? I think it is just a matter of getting the script right.

Ive got it running great on my Chinese ebay GPS but the resolution must be different as a bit of the bottom is chopped off and I can only see half of the lower buttons.

I have tried a fresh download with all the antivirus turned off.
    Same result
first time I run the Garmin.exe file it opens a file manager window and then drops back out again.
Its almost like that garmin.exe is a script of some description and not the garmin program executable.

    oh yeah almost forgot
this unit is running WinCe ver 6

    @Aussie Frontier,

You are correct, Garmin.exe is a mortrunner for Mortscript which actually executes the script Garmin.mscr. Have you modified Garmin.mscr as mentioned in the tutorial to suit the particular name of your SD card and checked that all the paths are correct? If not that could be why it won't work. Also make sure that Mortscript.exe is also present.

    Cheers, Ian

well this is what I have now

    Errorlevel("warn")

    If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
    EndIf

    #Start explorer.exe and wait a second
    Run("\windows\explorer.exe")
    Sleep(1000)

    #Hide Taskbar
    Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarHide.exe")

#Copy previous stored settings to \Garmin
    XCopy(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"Settings\*.*", "\Garmin", TRUE)

    SET SETMEM, SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"SetMem.exe"
    Run (%SETMEM%, "6000")

    #Run Garmin Mobile XT.
#This script will not go to the next command before que.exe completely shut down
    RunWait(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"..\Apps\WM\que.e xe")

    Run (%SETMEM%, "3840")

#Save new settings back to SD Card
    XCopy("\Garmin\*.*", SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"Settings", TRUE)

    #Show Taskbar
    Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarShow.exe")

    #Kill explorer.exe
    If(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))
    Kill("explorer.exe")
    EndIf

    and it should possibly be

    Errorlevel("warn")

    If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
    EndIf

    #Start explorer.exe and wait a second
    Run("\windows\explorer.exe")
    Sleep(1000)

    #Hide Taskbar
    Run(storagecard\garmin\rungmxt\TaskbarHide.exe)

#Copy previous stored settings to \Garmin
    XCopy(storagecard\garmin\rungmxt\"Settings\*.*", "\Garmin", TRUE)

    SET SETMEM, Storagecard("ScriptPath")\"SetMem.exe"
    Run (%SETMEM%, "6000")

    #Run Garmin Mobile XT.
#This script will not go to the next command before que.exe completely shut down
    RunWait(Storagecard("ScriptPath")\"..\Apps\WM\que. exe")

    Run (%SETMEM%, "3840")

#Save new settings back to SD Card
    XCopy("\Garmin\*.*", Storagecard("ScriptPath")\"Settings", TRUE)

    #Show Taskbar
    Run(Storagecard("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarShow.exe")

    #Kill explorer.exe
    If(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))
    Kill("explorer.exe")
    EndIf

    close?

maybe your version of windows ce does not have explorer.exe ?
do you have access to the CE part of your device ?
or "my computer" ? maybe i can send you explorer.exe ?

It actually opens explorer when the script runs and its when the script finishes and tries to close that it goes to error .
It would certainly help if I could get into WinCe to change the lingo so I could read what the hell its doing hahahah

    Hollowman

My Chinese 7" is set up exactly as you mentioned - when I run the app I get an 8 digit device number and 4 digit card number. Tried both with the keygen and neither work. When I rum the app (Garmin for win ce) it boots etc but will not allow a non garmin gps (locked??). When I try to change maps, it crashes and gives an error code....any ideas?
