I'm having a different issue. After I install everything from the tutorial on the first page, everything loads fine. My only issue is that when ever I press
    (1) point of interest (other than search by name)
    (2) detour
    (3) or the "arrival" button on the bottom right hand of the map screen

When it does crash, it gives me the dreaded 646 error (error: assert failed at cdp_staticlistfield.cpp: 646)

Ideas? Beyond this, it is very stable.

    Thanks Hollowman great download!
I am having a minor problem with the Garmin software however.
The 5" screen does not seem to fit the last few mm of the graphics. Is there any way to tune the image to fit the screen?
    Thanks again,
    Alan

    Hi,

    Type: S3C2440 multi-platform
    Software: WinCE .NET 4.20 [Korean]
    Processor: ARM ARM920
    Resolution: 480x234 pixels, 65536 colors
    GPS Brand Name: Pontus HND-7000K

I get an error when running Garmin\RunGMX\Garmin.exe:
    Code:
    explorer.exe
    0xC000001C
    82C207768
    If I edit out:
    Code:
    #Kill explorer.exe
    #If(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))
    #Kill("explorer.exe")
    #EndIf
    I don't get the error.

On the device I can't install anything to the root... All APP's and other stuff are stored in the Folder:

    /UserFlash/APP/

Here are a few screen shots:

    Under your 1st post
    SOFTWARE UNLOCK CODE / ACTIVATION:
    3) GarminXT should load up and give you a list of some options. <-- Nothing Happens...

Do I have to edit the file: Garmin.mscr more to set up Environmental Variables?

What other info do you need from me to help?

    Thanks..

A gazillion thanks to you Hollowman. I've been trying to figure out how to get Garmin software on my GPS for sometime now with no results. Got a cheap Nextar X3-03 a few years back and it seemed I could only run the junky software that came installed on it. Your instructions are straight to the point and an asset to the entire Austech community including a Yank from the
    States like me.

I also have G35 GPS and am unable to get Garmin mobile XT software to detect the satellite. Have tried all available ports, but still no go. Wondering if anybody else has managed to get Garmin software working on this GPS? And what do I need to change to get it running.

Also found that Navig8r inocorrectly lists the resolution of the G35 as 480x272 (normally for widescreen model). Ran system utility and tells me the resolution is 320x240.

Garmin xt v5.00.30 is around for winCE 6 not sure if it works on older winCE 5. but its reported by some users to be slow with a frew problems. So stick with v5.00.20 if its operating fine.

Download portsplitter V1.31 for wince 5.0 from and run on pc,then install on storage card
device wil have to plugged into computer

place port splitter in rungmxt directory.then click on port splitter. exe and set up.

I set input port as com2, 57600, Autostart. Then Com0 as Output. exit.open again to see if settings are saved
    then press start
This creates the file. I then checked to make sure that settings.dat is in RunGMXT directory,

    modified Garmin.mscr as following.

    Errorlevel("warn")

    If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
    EndIf

#Run Port Splitter if not exists
    If(not ProcExists("Port Splitter.exe"))
    Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")"Port Splitter.exe")
    Sleep(500)
    EndIf

    #Run Garmin Mobile XT.
#This script will not go to the next command before que.exe completely shut down
    RunWait(SystemPath("ScriptPath")"..AppsWMque.exe")

#Stop Port Splitter before killing it
#If the port splitting are not stopped before killing the process,
#it will not work again even you run Port Splitter again without soft reset
    If(WndExists("Port Splitter V1.31"))
    #Stop button
    SendCommand("Port Splitter V1.31", 1010)
    Sleep(500)
    #Exit button
    SendCommand("Port Splitter V1.31", 2)
    Sleep(500)
    EndIf

    #Kill Port Splitter process
    If(ProcExists("Port Splitter.exe"))
    Kill("Port Splitter.exe")
    EndIf

Hope it works for you just play round with port splitter until it does.

To get this working with Navig8r G35 I had to download Port Splitter 1.31 (Port Splitter 1.2 does not work)

    and edit above adding explorer.exe

    modified Garmin.mscr as following.

    Errorlevel("warn")

    If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
    EndIf

    #Start explorer.exe and wait a second
    Run("\windows\explorer.exe")
    #Sleep(500)

#Run Port Splitter if not exists
    If(not ProcExists("Port Splitter.exe"))
    Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"Port Splitter.exe")
    Sleep(500)
    EndIf

    #Run Garmin Mobile XT.
#This script will not go to the next command before que.exe completely shut down
    RunWait(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"..\Apps\WM\que.e xe")

#Stop Port Splitter before killing it
#If the port splitting are not stopped before killing the process,
#it will not work again even you run Port Splitter again without soft reset
    If(WndExists("Port Splitter V1.31"))
    #Stop button
    SendCommand("Port Splitter V1.31", 1010)
    Sleep(500)
    #Exit button
    SendCommand("Port Splitter V1.31", 2)
    Sleep(500)
    EndIf

    #Kill Port Splitter process
    If(ProcExists("Port Splitter.exe"))
    Kill("Port Splitter.exe")
    EndIf

    #Kill explorer.exe
    If(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))
    Kill("explorer.exe")
    EndIf

    Default LG LN500 conversion

Hollowman, I am trying to use your procedure to convert my LN500 to Garmin as the updated maps are not available from LG (or anyone else!).
    Is this possible?
I get the files on to the SD card but cannot run the "garmin.exe". ("not a win32 Appl'n"!

what is the starting point, please.

    Default double din

    hi HH

just installed a double din into my VW touareg. it is from Maisun HK. all went very well and I installed igo8 which also runs well.

am a garmin fan (plane and car) and we have a great free map for garmin here (NZopenGPS).

all installed OK and the card id (settings/about=255014400) was used to generate key (PWB46TFMDZ5VQB9AD4JRJCEGS) using the 5 digit + checksum fix.

i still get the free trial page on running garmin.exe.
tried your older keygen with the same result.

there is also a device id , 8 digits, 3145808 but havent tried it in the keygen.

in the rungmxt/settings file is a XML file and in that file is a 10 digit device id number.....I tried that as well.

just cant seem to get passed the unlock bit.

    any suggestions most welcome.

No real idea on the matter but you could try the device id. It is what most of the check.
By reading this, you have already given me control over a tiny slice of your mind

Same problem, everything else works really well, real shame you cant go into POI's tho.
I think its either a path problem or else a problem in WinCE 5 but I just dont know enough to solve it.
Will let you know if i ever get it running but thanks to OP for a great post, thanks.

Hi, FreeGPS map is good, bee using it for a few years! re your unlock problem, are you sure you are saving it as sw.unl and not sw.unl.txt? If you use Notepad make sure to change from .txt to all files in the save as type dialogue.

This is the exact same problem i'm getting when i try to select 'Maps".

    Has anybody solved this issue?

I'm thinking it maybe caused by the imbedded wince

    cheers
