    Hey everybody!

I've installed the Garmin software on my no-name 7" Chinese 2 din unit, but keep on getting this error:

    "ERROR: Assert failed at CDP_StaticListField.cpp..."

I used the installation files/method in the beginning of this thread. This happens almost on every menu option - I tried to select a new map I have copied onto my SD [called storagecard], and this then happens - haven't bothered with most of the other functions, because it doesn't help me if I can't select the appropriate map.

    Thank you for the help!

Can anyone tell me if CE 6 has problems that prevent the software from running? It is getting hard to find a 6" screen with CE 5, that's why I am asking this question.

    Many thanks,

im in the same boat as you.

the best ive gotten is to the Garmin load screen and then it crashes and exits.

my unit is like this one:

Hollowman - your in SYD, anychance I could tempt you to play with my unit and get it working with Garmin?

I am happy to take a risk of it being bricked during experimentation.

Installed it on my new Chinese 7inch No Name unit and it worked first time. AU & NZ Map installed fine and GPS picked up no probs. Just followed Hollowmans instructions and it was too easy.

I got it from Hollowmans first post on this thread .. Just follow the links and his instructions to the letter.

This was the actual link to the working software... Garmin XT 5.00.20wp for Windows CE. I just checked and the link is still working ok.

    Regards Mike

I get this error too. I copied the dll file all over the place including the windows folder (funnily when this error crops up it gives me access to the windows explorer something I had not been able to do earlier) and the error now only comes when I stop the application (and I lose the history of that session)

I found the iGO8 that the original came with a bit more feature rich (like street midpoint / intersection and it only allows you to type in characters that are possible + qwerty keyboard) and the reason i switched was to get the latest map.

    Any 2010 maps for igo8

    Thanks Hollowman....

Any chance you have a copy of the patched version for Windows CE6.0 that link doesn't work anymore.

I have found copies of Garmin Mobile XT v5.00.30w floating around but they all appear to be in chinese when I run the Garmin.exe.

OK so i found an english copy that runs on CE6.0 but i can't get it to unlock. The SW.UNL file is definitely not saved as a text file but it keeps coming up with the purchase & go screen.

I've tried the key generated by both keygens posted in here but no such luck.

Did anyone else who had an 8 digit Device ID manage to get it working in the end??

    Default Garmin Maps

    [QUOTE=hollowman;232929]

Thanks for the info very helpful.

I have an after market double din Car DVD GPS system running WinCe 6.0. I can only get it to run Route 66 at present although nearly had it running IGO8. Where do I get these Garmin maps from so I can see if these work?

    Hey Hollowman,
Thanks for your great work, installed and works fine.
The only problem I have is the maps draw very slowly.
Wondered if there are any tricks to speeding the drawing up.
I think the Chinese GPS unit should have plenty of processing power as all the other GPS systems work quite fast.
    Thanks

Thanks Hollowman,my installation went like a charm.Only changed the waiting time try and hide more of windows and the taskbar.

What i have noticed concerning the speed of garmin is the size of the image files have a major influence on the speed of starting up and drawing.

it is nice to have all the detail in the maps but the nicer the picture the slower the machine.

First, I had the issue that Kevaclone reported:
"ProcExists" requires toolhelp.dll on your device
    Line 34
    (StorageCardGarminRunGMXTGarmin.mscr): if(ProcExists("explorer.exe"))

Thanks to Hollowman, I was able to download the toolhelp.dll

After that, Garmin would fail to start or the whole operating system would hang.

A number of people suggested that the Mortscript in garmin.mscr might be wrong. If the microcard had a different name, then it might not work, etc.

The main problem is that Garmin could not find the correct navi.ini.

    Directions.
    1) Copy the nav.ini file from the Garmin folder
    2) paste it into the root folder.
    3) if you already have a nav.ini folder, then overwrite it.

I recommend anyone that had similar problems to try this.

My nav.ini at the root was trying to run the wrong .exe file.

My card-name is sdmmc, but I didn't need to change the garmin.mscr file.

If you think something is wrong with your Garmin.mscr file, then add some pop-up messages and see if they execute.

    For example: Message("Start of mscr")

this should pop up a message when Garmin starts. if you add this to the top of the file and don't see anyting, there's a chance that your file isn't being executed. That's what happened in my case.
Thanks Hollowman for all of the information. It has been very helpful.
    Hi,

I get the same error but I dont have nav.ini file. Pls upload one for me or paste the settings inside it.
