Talking TOMTOM 7.915 with Australia Map 830.2290 + Voices + POI + Speedcam - TUTORIAL

If there are any mistakes, please PM me to let me know so that I can fix them.
Please notify me of dead links as well, I'll do my best to fix it.

for most of you, it will work the first time, however some of you will have problems,
some minor and some major. All devices are different and you will get many different types
of errors. I can't list all the issues here but I want to ask people to help each other out
and support each other if someone asks for help. I'll do my best as well.

If there are newer versions of what I uploaded here, please let me know, please dont just say
there is a newer one, please supply the link or upload it yourself. Thanks

    THINGS TO KNOW:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Latest POI's and speedcams as of this date ! - credit goes to downunder35m and puca for this
    2) English voices only
    3) Australia map only
    4) I'm sure there are other ways of doing this tutorial but this is the way I know
    5) If you get errors or trouble starting the application ask here for help or Google it, because google is your friend.
    6) Some tutorials have some extra steps that I don't have, this is because I've taken the liberty of doing it for you
    7) None of my archives have passwords - I share, not keep secrets.
    8) If your using activsync for your device/phone, you will not be able to open the bif file, just copy the bif file to your Hard Drive and you can open it from there
    9) the meta data for this map is:

    ; Australia_830_2290
    76 EE 1B F4 91 66 FD 89 8D F1 3E 4B 6E 11 62 D3 Australia-40.meta

WHAT DEVICE DOES THIS WORK ON?
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Any Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.5 devices
    2) Confirmed working on my HTC TyTN II Mobile, HTC Touch Pro 2 Phone and mio168 running windows mobile 2003 with CE 4.2 core)

    WHAT TO DOWNLOAD:

    PREPERATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) OPTIONAL - Back up any previous versions of TomTom data that you may have (eg: poi's, maps, speed cams, voices etc).
    2) OPTIONAL - Uninstall/Delete any previous TomTom versions/directories.
    3) If your CE device / PDA uses a SD card for the maps and software, then you'll need a SD card reader for your computer or laptop or you can plug your device in via the USB to transfer data that way, depending on your device.
    3) REQUIRED - Have installed.

    INSTALLATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Extract one fo the qvga or vga rar files to a temp folder of your hard drive
    2) Copy the Navigator folder to the root of your SD memory card
    3) Extract KEYGEN.rar to a temp folder of your hard drive
    4) Extract the [Australia_830_2290.rar] and copy the folder [Australia_830_2290] to the ROOT of your MEMORY CARD
    5) Go to file explorer (or equivalent) of your device and go to Navigator folder that you copied over in step 2, now start TomTom with Navigator.exe, this is to generate the needed files and folders to proceed with the next step - now exit tomtom
    6) OPTIONAL - Extract [Voices.rar] and copy the [voices] folder to MEMORY CARD\Navigator\Voices

    2) Highlight and copy the DeviceUniqueID code.
    3) Go to your [KEYGEN] folder that you extracted earlier and find the file called DeviceID.txt. Open it
    4) Paste your DeviceUniqueID code in there and save it.

    5) Run the file in the KEYGEN folder called [RunMeforDCT.cmd] and select option 1.

    6) In the Next screen, select option 1 again.

    7) The next screen SHOULD say "Keygen says OK" Press any key to exit the keygen (see picture)

    8) Click [insert_meta_from_Map_here] folder in your [KEYGEN] directory, you will now see Australia-40.meta.dct file that the keygen created, this is your activation key/file.

    9) Copy that [Australia-40.meta.dct] into the map folder of your device.
    10) Start TomTom again and it should now be registered and working

Here is a that I found, the steps are basically the same, doesn't matter what device you are using - credit goes to demonfatal for the video

    That is it ! Enjoy

    Hi there Hollowman,
thanks for the great tutorial, I am yet to install and try out the Tom Tom downloads. I have downloaded the maps etc from the links further up the page, then noticed the new maps, but it doesn't seem to work as it is only an index htm 64kb. Are the ones further up the page the correct ones after all.
hope you had a had a happy new year.

Why would you run tomtom navigator.exe from your pc? you should run it from your gps device.

When i try & run it from the device it keeps saying set the path. Go into settings set the path. \sdmmc\navigator\Tom Tom Navigator.exe. Exit out restart gps & displays "Please set Navigation Path". The GPS is a cheapie 5" chinese unit running Windows CE.

Just make sure you are trying to run the ce version: Tomtom 7.910.9185 for PNA with WINCE 5.0 and not the wm version.

The latest version for Windows Mobile is the 7.916.9192
And WM versions won't work properly on WinCE devices!
For WinCE you should use the 7.910.9185 .
There should a SD card installer somewhere too.

    Evening,

I tried & tried to get the Tom Tom software to work, but I failed. I loaded iGO8 Aus maps over the US maps that came with it. I now have a happy bride as she can now use her new toy. I will keep trying to get the Tom Tom software working now that the pressure is off. Thanks for your help.
