when ever I have played with mgcam
I need to uninstall all other cams and then restart
The cam and then it conects
i have been muckin about serving my aurora sub card to myself using newcs 1.30 and various versions of cccam with instant pics every time using this n line in cccam config
N:10.1.1.2 1999 test test 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
i am now wanting to play with mgcamd 1.31 as my client and have this line in newcamd.list in var/keys
CWS: 10.1.1.2 1999 test test 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
also in var/keys there is mg_cfg.I can get the card details in the newcs screen but cannot connect to mgcamd client, is this a result of the two client strings being virtually the same,meaning the N line and cws line , or the fact that mg_cfg is in the same folder as newcamd.list , also what should i have in mg_cfg should it be the same client string as newcamd.list or a variation of the default mg_cfg file or does it have nothing to do with the client at all , my head hurts

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
just tried that with no luck , could it be maybe a wrong port setting or something it just seems that newcs cant even connect to mgcamd as i am not even getting error messages , the last line in newcs says : starting newcamd server on port 1999 , so it doesnt get a reply from mgcamd at all?even tried deleting cccam config thinking it was conflicting with newcamd.list

you do not have to uninstall any other cam .The file that needs editing is called NEWCAMD.LIST it is found in var/keys there may be one called NEWCAMD.LIST.Example just delete the .EXAMPLE
then add
the CWS: xxxlalalalalalalalaa;l

dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
if you start the softcam at a shell prompt I think it may provide you with information on where/what its trying to do and maybe give you an idea on what's wrong
shes a goer changed 10.1.1.2 to 127.0.0.1 and its goin? 10.1.1.2 was working fine with cccam ??
That's what i thought but every time i played with the Mgcam and set it to default and restart the cam there would always be a couple of channels still saying they are using Cccam instead of the default Mgcam even happens on the 7020 also LOL
Well thats why i delete all the other cams that i am not using at that time
cheers

10.1.1.2 is your network IP
127.0.0.1 is your local loop back IP
effectively they are the same place .. CCcam treats them the same almost the same
NewCs doesnt
in the end 127.0.0.1 will only work for client on the same box as the server
if you want to test to another box in your network you will definitely need to change to your network IP 10.1.1.2
to change it :
- check out your NewCs.xml and it will have 127.0.0.1 in the server config listening ip like this
change that to 10.1.1.2 and then also change your client to that setting.<globals>
<listening-ip>127.0.0.1</listening-ip>
</globals>
she should be a goer..

Intresting it worked.
I thought MGcamed configs had to start with
CWS= not CWS:

You are of course correct -

I dunno if your sky card works with newcs? I can see you have no user in the newcs config and it's not reflected in the newcamd.list
Do a search on skynz as it's already been done.
