That's very interesting because I've never known genuine 7025's to work with external pheonix card readers. The clone manufacturer must of 'fixed' the com port so pheonix's can be used.

i have 2 7020S, both setup the same, newcs and mgcamd, both with pheonix readers. one receiver is a clone, the other is an original ive just bought
they both run the new PLi image
the clone works perfectly, all 3 card readers with no issues, the original however, wont work the pheonix
ive swapped all cables and the readers between the boxes, so i know everything works, yet in the newcs CP the pheonix isnt active
the newcs.xml was copied from the clone receiver, and just the port numbers for the readers changed
does anyone have any ideas what else i could try?
cheers

ah the bleary eyes at 5am lol
This doesn't help but there were some clone DM500's that couldn't run a pheonix via the serial port but could be used to flash the box with no problems. They were later updated (hardware mod) so that a pheonix worked on the serial port.
You've tried swapping everything so doesn't look good for the box

my next choice will totaly bypass the point of paying the extra for an original, but i do have another clone here with a dead PSU, ill swap the PSU over to the clone box, and see if it then starts to work
its wierd though, as other than one being a clone and one being original, EVERYTHING else is exactly the same, and when swapped to the clone, works fine
If it's a serial phoenix, is the 7020 com port disabled in the menu?
there is an option like no serial port on that you have to tick in gemini and I would think it's there for Pli. I forgot about that one. But he's mentioned that they're running new pli image so you would assume this setting is the same for both.

Thank you Leroy....there are some knobs about !!
do you know where this option is please?
i dont really want 2 clones running on the same network, as when i originally tried this, it crashed the whole network as the MAC addresses are the same, you cant spoof them either (searching my old posts here brings up a thread about this) which is why i bought the original
the clone i have working has had no problems for years, but i want to run 2 gamma cards, which here will only read on external pheonix readers. if theres an option i need to enable/disable than i havent found it, and i think ive been through all the menus, even tried the debug via com tick (its labeled something like that lol)
any help on this would be great, as im totally out of ideas

I don't think it's there with PLI digidude.
I've seen that option aswell in the past but just checked my Relook 400 (runs the same adapted PLI image for the 7020) and can't seem to find it.

cheers weirdo, i may try an older image, but i still cant work out how its perfect on the clone, but not on the original DMM one?
On my 7020 with PLI jade 3 it's
setup->system settings->debugging->enable serial debug unticked
It should be unticked by default.

yep, thats how its setup

the only thing left to do is assume that the original receiver has a faulty com port on it , this was the ONLY reason i bought it to useCode:<device> <name>Pheonix Gamma</name> <type>phoenix</type> <mhz>368</mhz> <node>/dev/tts/0</node> <parity>even</parity> <reset>normal</reset> <export>Yes</export> <enabled>Yes</enabled> <blocksa>No</blocksa> <blockua>No</blockua> <blockga>No</blockga> <irdeto-camkey>0000000000000000</irdeto-camkey> − <irdeto-camkey-data> 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000 </irdeto-camkey-data> <crypto-special>No</crypto-special> − <ipk> 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000 </ipk> − <ucpk> 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000 </ucpk> <PTShandshake>No</PTShandshake> <carddetect>yes</carddetect> <newcamd_port>34015</newcamd_port> <autosid>Yes</autosid> <Seca-PPV>no</Seca-PPV> <pincode>0000</pincode> <priority>round</priority> </device>
I see you have
<carddetect>yes</carddetect>
that works with mine but others have to have that set to 'no' for it to work. Worth a try.

Is the freq correct? should it be 357? Agree with the carddetect option above as well.
