I have a Harmony one and it works fine with my 7020 and other boxes. I probably haven't fully exploited it's capabilities though. I still find I use the factory remotes when I'm really tinkering.

Hmmm, interesting. My 785 HAS the 4 coloured buttons, red, green, yellow, blue, in between the PVR and channel buttons. Whereas in the above link, there is none......

vk6xlr, didnt notice the picture was missing those buttons but yes i have seen it in stores and it does have the coloured buttons.

Found the 785 for around $110 and the Harmony one for $198 cant decide which one to buy.

There are 2 versions of most of the Harmony remotes - those made for the North American market don't have the coloured (teletext) buttons, while those for the European market do have them. Generally speaking, the xx5 models are the Europeans. The picture for the 785 is strange - there used to be a 720 (don't know if it's still available) that looked like that, but the 785 originally always had the coloured buttons. has pictures of a lot of the range.

i got a Harmony 550 ( bought it from ebay usa ) and its a bit slow when using with a dm800... i mean... takes a bit longer to respond than the normal remote ( silver )
    2.3m motorized C-band mesh , 95 cm motorized Ku dish on a DM8000HD make that IQ2 since 11/11/11
    C-band : from Telstar 10 to Intelsat 2
    Ku-band: fron NSS 6 to Intelsat 701

Other decoders I've used successfully with my 785 are:
    DM7020
    Octagon SF518
    Octagon SF918
    Relook 400s
    Dizipia 3300
    Foxtel IQ 1.5

I do agree with pit5bul, some decoders do take short time longer to respond than with their original remotes.

I have the 785 and it has been a faithful remote. Ive had mine for 3 years and now the print is rubbing off the volume keys etc. The Harmony One is a newer model with touchscreen. I dont know how reliable these would be. I do like the feel of the One over the 785. See if you can get a hold of what they feel like. I remember Officeworks had them on display

Harmony data base is awesome. Setting up a Harmony 1000 to its full potential can take a day or 2.

those Harmony remotes are great. Have one in the lounge, in my room, and I gave my parents one. Once you get them set up, they simplify things massively in this age where there's a remote for everything.

Even if the device you have isn't in their database, you can still learn from your old remote.

the only thing i've tried which didn't work so well was our heat pump (a Mitsubishi, I think). It went OK, but it was just as easy to use the original remote.

The Harmony database isn't always 100% correct. If their settings don't work for you, just get your old remote to teach it the correct codes.
