Default Can I possibly recieve Foxtel in NZ?

Hi, I'm just wondering, can Foxtel be recieved in NZ? Becuase I know the satellite does transmit beams to NZ, but Foxtel is on the Australian beam. I'm just wondering if it can be done, and what size of dish am I looking at here.

I've heard rumors of people on card sharing networks getting signal up and down the west coast but I have family in the Bay of Plenty who claim to have tried with negative results.
Having said that I tend to think that in the case of the BOP trials it was dish size that was the limiting factor, a descent sized dish, up high, I think a location above 300mtrs should surfice, and reception shouldn't be a problem.
I suggested that my family put a portable dish on the side of Mt Maunganui and point it at skippy land, but they didn't want to lash out on a bigger dish

About all I can suggest mate, is get yourself up high on the West Coast with about a 1 to 1.5 dish and a dream - if you get Al Jazerra then you'll get the lot.

Since the Optus D3 satellite went up, a few Foxtel channels have moved from C1 to D3, & some New Foxtel Channels are now on D3 too,

I have heard that the Australian channels on D3 cannot be picked up in NZ ?

So if you had a Foxtel card in NZ you might only get the Foxtel channels on C1 if you can receive them ok,

    Good Luck

the Warkworth Satellite Station used to receive all Australian beams from C1 on its old (30 metre) dish before they knocked it down and replaced it with a smaller lighter dish (12 metres i think)

I think Far North Cablevision used to have a big dish pointing to C1 as well

try a 4 metre solid dish and work your way up

A rather pointless excersize now particularly in relation to the new D3 lot.
