Default TomTom - No Map Found - upload new map

Firstly - I know there are a lot of threads regarding instructions on how to update maps for a TomTom - I've read them - including tutorials. So I'm sorry if there's a thread out there that I've missed answering this......

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong so any help would be much appreciated.

I have a TomTom XL (it has no SD card slot) - it's running Emulator 8.010.9369.1

My current map is the original that came with the device

I've downloaded the latest Australia map - 840_2562

I've tried multiple methods to get the new map working.

Can someone please advise whether my steps below are correct....

Firstly I backup the TomTom (copy all files including system - trust me my backup works as I've restored this more times then I can count)

Delete the folder "Australia" on the TomTom

Run the keygen utility against the newly downloaded Australia map folder on the PC (version 840_2562) specifying the device ID (creates a .dct file etc)

I copy the updated Australia folder (including the .dct file etc) to the root of the TomTom

Update the ttsystem file and copy this to the root of the TomTom

TomTom Home is not running during any of the above steps.

Power on TomTom - no maps found

    Where am I going wrong??

    Thanks in advance!!

Don't know where you downloaded the map ,but in my threads I mentioned several times that the 2562 is not working on Tomtom's running a Navcore below 8.2xx .
For your Navcore you need the 840.2561 map or update the Navcore.

Thanks DU - how can I find out what Navcore my device will support? Will it support 9.004?

    What would be your suggestion?

I can't remember where I downloaded my map from btw

    You can try 8.412 Navcore.
It is optimised for the ONE XL.
    PW : downunder

It supporst the latest 840.2562 map and has computer voices support.
There is a LoquendoTTS folder included - if the computer voice won't work ,you can try the Vocalizer voice from the same download link.
Delete the folder LoquendoTTS and make a new folder VocalizerTTS where you extract the files and folders of the vocalizer voice in.
If still no luck you have to do it like you always did and use normal voices.
The Navcore is already patched ,all you need it to add your map and activate it with a keygen.
Overwriting your existing Navcore will be possible - but in any case : make a proper backup first ,using the Windows Explorer - not Home!

DU - thanks for your help so far. I've uploaded the new navcore to the TomTom but I cannot manage it through TomTom Home - it displays an error of "You cannot use this map on this device: Australia-106"

I tried running the Keygen again but same error displayed.

You're right about the voices too - they don't work. I'll give your recommendation a go of using the Vocalizer after I get the map working ok...

UPDATE - new map is on the TomTom - just can't manage it via TomTom home.

Also trying to work out what files need to be copied back for my favourites etc

UPDATE - TomTom Home now working - I patched the dll. Now for the favourites and voices :-)

OK.... final update - all working - favourites is kept within a .cfg file within the map folder (for anyone new to this - it should be in your backed up map folder......) - just copy it over.

    Thanks for the feedback!
Finally you're the proof that someone can find info by using the search and common sense
Would be too nice if all users could manage it that easy
