Default Dish Size on H-H Motor

Curious to know what is the biggest Dish someone has placed on there H-H motor (see below) the paperwork states up to 90cm

Currently have one with a 90cm and another with 65cm and would like to try a larger dish re-:120cm.

But not sure if it will load the plastic gears up too much.....

    G'day Cobber,
I wouldn't recommend over 1 metre. I have a 95 on the side of the house and after strong winds, have had to reset it. The wall is E/W and there is high ground immediately to my West.
Anything larger, and it would need more shelter, although does not seem to have damaged the gears. The one with a 65 is no problem at all.
Could probably do better with mesh, but a waste of time on Ku.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid "

Yeah they say they go up to 120CM, but I would keep in no bigger than 90cm/95cm.

I have a 120cm on a motek, been up there for about 6years. Works fine but as stated above creates more surface area for the wind, realistically I would stay with a 90cm unless it is in a spot where the wind is less

cheers bigfella, the 1 i have on there is a jonsa which is fairly heavy, mine doesn't get moved a lot of the time so that is probably why it has lasted so long. I do know that it sounds worse than it used to, so it might be close to failing.

It comes down to the weight of the dish.

I tried a solid heavy 1.2m on my motek and ended crushing the tube trying to get it to hold the weight. LOL

A lighter 1.2m would have been no problem though.

If you get high winds forget about any 1.2m dish on a motek, mine only lasted a few weeks before the gears where destroyed. If you live in an area that doesn't get strong winds, then as others have already advised, a light 1.2m dish should be cool.
