not much, good to boost signal on long cable runs. I prefer to use a bigger dish.

Never used one on a Satellite dish but have on a terrestrial Yagi.

Better than nothing, but must be mounted as close to the antenna as possible to boost the signal above the noise that will be present on long cable runs.

As the name 'Inline' implies, its basically to assist an RF signal on a long cable run.
But like all amps, you must first have a signal to boost and they are incapable of discriminating between Noise and Signal so their use requires care.
Undersea cables, Co-axial cables, Optical fibre all use some form of a repeater/inline amplification to carry a signal over distances.
There is no real difference between a MHA (Mast Head Amp) except an Inline goes somewhere beTween A and B whereas the MHA is at an Antenna.

Even in a broad sense, the Microwave repeater's we see dotted all over the country nowadays is an 'Inline' amp'.
