Just replace and in the menu it will say Format

hmmm, the farken thing still won't format properly, despite me leaving it overnight.

    i tried this
    mkfs.ext3 /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc

as per (part1 doesn't exist, only disc)

but it still doesn't work properly, do I need to create a volume as well?

what's wrong with formatting it through the menu options? That's all I've ever done.

and to conclude this rather one sided conversation....

I put the drive in my PC, fired up Hirens boot CD, and formatted the drive as ext3 with Partition Magic. Popped it back in the Dreambox and it seems to work. Interestingly, it seems it didn't format in the Dreambox, as the whole drive was still being reported as unallocated

It's running as a slave (despite my jumper settings), but it works, so i'll just ignore that for now.
