Default Internet "Black Spots" Countries without Internet Access?

Does anyone know much about countries or places which have no internet access?
Either because of financial reason or Government banning or censorship?

I found this little map, all be it a bit old now (2007).

I got to thinking about places that might ban internet access, yet with satellite technology, people can sneak access into black spots by not having to use the wired network. If the foot print permitted.

Watching a BBC cameraman prompted me. He was in the middle of no where filming a live news cross, and just had a flat panel array that he pointed towards the satellite.

Vietnam has excellent internet in the major cities, my house has an internet blackspot at the moment (due to being throttled). Technology is so advanced these days with an iphone i'd assume if you have phone signal you'd have internet through roaming signal technology.

Good point mate. I didn't even think of the smaller bandwidth connections like GPRS and 3G etc.

Was just reading that in the U.S. Forces, they have a term called "Ops Minimize" where by they shut down all outgoing traffic (Data and Phone) from field operations when a soldier is killed. So no accidental news gets back to loved ones before being informed in an Official Capacity first.

I guess there is always other means tho.

socialists need control over information, it is as simple as that. the internet is still available in most of those countries, but it is regulated/censored/filtered. the great chinese firewall is the best example of information control-

What a ripper iwacelect. I just don't think i have UN's or BBC's budget to run one

Oh and brilliant find mate, as one of your products is Exactly what the guy from the BBC was using.

    This:

Went from camera to laptop then to that unit. I guess they run some pretty good compression, as it was a live NEWS feed back to London from the War zone. They also had 2-way communication with the news reader back in London being able to talk via the ear piece to the reporter on the ground.
All set up in 15minutes for the cross.

Pretty dam amazing considering they were out in a dusty waste land.

I guess the Dakar Rally would be a paramount example of this type of technology, 1130 hours of TV broadcast all handled on the ground then beamed back. Most of that would be handled by DVB uplinks but they must have a pretty good internet set up as well.

I take you mean from the docks, not from a moving vessel?

If it is from a moving vessel, i am amazed.
