Default Dreambox to multiple WMC boxes

    Guys

After reading through the forums i have decided to look into setting up a Card Sharing server to share a f**tel subscription between 2 media PCs.
Currently i modulate a single foxtel signal to the 2 PCs, and would like to modify the setup so both boxes can view different channels.

My question is on the software needed on both the dreambox and the 2 media PCs.
I am thinking of the following
    Dreambox
    -CCcam

    Media PCs
    -CCcam
    -DVBviewer
    -DVBLink
    -Media Centre

    Has anyone tried anything similar?

    Cheers

Hi, you might get better results using newcs as the server and wincsc plugin with dvb viewer, DVBDream or Progdvb. CCcam clients on windows based dvb applications can be a bit hit and miss. I think others may use Acamd as well which can connect to CCcam.

    Hope this helps

dm will read fox cards from the internal slot. Blue cards will work with out having a box key but apparently the orange ones need the box key in the config file. What sat cards do you have or plan to use in the media pc's?

ok , you find setting up the dm as a server quite easy with the bluey and having the wm pc's as clients. I havent setup a pc sat system yet as the sat cards i have cant scan transponders for the channel list. but for me, for what the dm's are worth its not worth me buying a sat card that will do the job to warant me going down that path.

TheRiddler_1, thats true, i however setup the media PC before i researched the dreambox, as a matter of interest what is a cost efficient card to put in the dreambox? and can it record to a NAS or networked PC?

    Cheers

2 things , the dm500 doesnt suport recording to a internal hdd (no hardware), the dm600 can , it does have facilty to take a 2.5" ide hdd.
You can record to a NAS or a networked PC with a DM500. The favorite software at the moment seems to be Jade pli (do a search for it on here) pretty stable and has recording to a network location plugin bundled with it.
Go over to the Buy Sell or Trade section and have a look at the DM's you see they range from $99 to $180 for DM500 or DM600. Sat cards (for a decent one) are around the same cost, it really depends on what you want the setup to do? I just have a hard disk recorder pluged into the back of mine
