    Default DM Netwoking

    Hi,
I have set up 2x DM500s (PLi Jade) feeding into Windows Media Center via DVBLogic's DVBLink. (using a Bluey, and thanks to these forums)
All works well, except there are small micro pauses every 5-10 minutes.
The DVBLogic people say this is likely to be caused by the weak networking/streaming on the DM500s (particularly my cheap clones ) They recommend using a higher spec DM.
Do DM500s have poor streaming capacity?

I don't know much about DMs, but from the specs I can't see any difference in the networking capability of other models.

Am I likely to see better (smoother) streaming from other DM models?
    esp DM600 or DM800.
Any recommendations for use as a streming host?
(do they all support Blueys? I might also look at USB support for future cards...)

    thanks,
    Mamba.

The dm500 network performance is poor at best. All other dreamboxs I've used are fine.

    Thanks for that info.
Are the other DMs you have used genuine or clones?
I am thinking of the $170 DM600s from joffaa,

the only clones Ive used were 500's, but there are clones for many of the dreambox models. Ive used genuine 500's and the network performance didnt appear to be any better or worse but I never ran any actual tests on the two side by side.

streaming to and from 500's has never worked well for me, when I compare smb/nfs/ftp transfer rates on a 500 they are significantly lower then from my 7000/7025/600 or 800

I replaced the caps on one and the speeds didnt improve even a K/sec

If you read the data sheet on the ethernet chip the caps dmm used are defn wrong, and replacing them with the ones the manufacturer recommends wouldnt hurt. but it didnt seem to help either.

    thanks,
    mamba.
the 600 from joffa are a good box and a great deal

they dont take the latest openpli image due to incompatible boot loader
but pli jade3 and streaming work a treat
    Dm500, DM5620, DM600 x2, DM7000 x1, DM7020, DM7025, DM800, VU+DUO and a partridge in a pear tree

    So,
I have tried my original DM500s, and now also DM518 and DM600 (clones).
    Same issue.
So, I am now hoping to try a genuine DM.
I can see a site call Micronica that may have real ones, has anyone bought there?
Any other places to buy real DM boxes (oz or overseas)?
    thanks.

I would start looking at your network, i had this issue awhile ago.
Everything else was fine (WHS, Xbox etc) but the DM500, turned out a cat5E cable was slightly faulty.
