Here is one way to record..... then save file.
With this method you cannot timer record though.
Hi
I would like to be able to view and record movies from my Dreambox DM500s to my PC.
To this end I have found and installed Dreambox Manager Suite Version 2 - (Build: 1.0.0.9).
I appear to have installed it correctly, I can see pictures on my PC screen, I can change channels and view the EPG.
Using the screen shot manager I can capture a screen and save that screen to a directory, I just don't seem to be able to work out how to save a movie. (Yes, I know - particularly thick this morning)
Could someone please give a brief tutorial or 'How to' on the process.
Thank you.

Don't let the number of posts fool you :-)
Sorry mate, the link doesn't work for me, however from the link wording it would appear that its a somewhat different method of recording??.
Too be honest, having found this Dreambox Manager suite, I would prefer to learn and hopefully master it before moving on to other methods, but thanks anyway.

Works fine for me, if you cant work it out, then good luck with your Dreambox Manager suite....

[quote=C-Bander;260000]Thanks, perhaps I could have worded that better
What I meant to say was, in using your method what do you define the saved file type as, how do you give the file length or know when to stop the recording - can these and indeed all regular type 'File save' commands be set up in a configuration file?
I don't mind learning new methods (and agreed, yours works) I would just really like to master 1.
Thanks for your input
personally i would just mount the pc's hard drive to the dream then record directly to the drive .
once there the recordings can be watched with kmplayer or vlc also you will able to convert them to dvd etc .
but hey thats me and what i feel is the easiest way and there is a million threads on how to mount a drive
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
