    Default NewCS 1.67 with CCcam 2.1.3

    Hi everyone

    I'm new to dreambox/card sharing but Ive done searching and reading this very helpful forum

    If someone could help me with my issues about setting up the connection between cccam 2.1.3 running from a dreambox 800HD to my windows7 HTPC server running NewCS 1.67 with the GUI and phoenix card reader attached by usb to it.

    Here is the setup:
    Win7 HTPC server with phoenix card reader running NewCS 1.67
    Dreambox 800HD on same local lan

    Configs:
    newcs.xml from HTPC server - it's port 10000.

    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <newCSconfig>
    <readers name="Standard Phoenix on PC">
    <device>
    <name>Phoenix on COM3</name>
    <type>phoenix</type>

    <radegastserver>

    <allow>

    </allow>

    <cardlevel>1</cardlevel>
    </user>
    </newcamdserver>
    </newCSconfig>

    Now the NewCS GUI is running and I can see the following output:
    Note I havn't turned on the phoenix card reader yet. I'm not seeing any connection when restarting the cccam2.1.3 bin on dreambox by telnet, or restarting the box. The process is running (see below)

    What I done with the dreambox I downloaded cccam2.1.3 plugin and the config for it also. Edited the config with ftp access.

    CCcam.cfg on the Dreambox800 in /etc/
    Added this line to the very top, the rest is pretty much # hashed out.
    N: 10.0.0.50 10000 Edited Edited 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    10.0.0.50 is the IP of my HTPC server, but i'm not able to telnet to 10000 when NewCS is running, nor I can see that port running on netstat.

    On the Dreambox, CCcam is started:
    1422 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1423 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1424 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1425 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1426 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1427 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1428 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3
    1429 root 2388 S CCcam_2.1.3

    I can restart and show with debugging:

    root@dm800:/var/log# CCcam_2.1.3 -d
    02:16:23.486 CCcam: ================================================== ====================

    02:16:24.115 CCcam: server started on port 12000

    I'm not really sure where to take it from here. CCcam server says server started on port 12000 yet I thought it was being used as a client to connect to NewCS server on my htpc

    If anyone could help that would be great thanks

    Hi,
    you don't need separate servers on both DB and HTPC. Try to setup CCcam server/client on DB and get picture on it first. Ten when you familiarise youresf with how it works, you can try to connect HTPC to DB. I might be wrong but NewCS stopped support for windows at some stage, so how can you run the latest version on W7? There is plenty manuals "step by step" how to setup CCcam, just google it. You're obviesly lost in all of it so try little by little.
    Cheers

    Thanks for the tips

    Well I got CCcam_2.1.3 running off the DM800 and connected locally.
    I have a phoenix card reader with usb to serial cable plugged into the Dreambox but I don't know what to put for the serial reader type in CCcam.cfg...

    CCcam.cfg

    F: user1 pass1
    F: user2 pass2
    C: 10.0.0.85 12000 user1 pass1

    SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000
    INFO LISTEN PORT : 16000
    HTML INFO LISTEN PORT : 16001
    ZAP OSD TIME : 0
    OSD USERNAME : root
    OSD PASSWORD : dreambox
    SHOW TIMING : yes
    MINI OSD : yes
    DEBUG : no
    DISABLE EMM : yes
    EXTRA EMM LEVEL : yes
    SOFTKEY FILE : /var/keys/SoftCam.Key
    AUTOROLL FILE : /var/keys/AutoRoll.Key
    STATIC CW FILE : /var/keys/constant.cw
    CAID IGNORE FILE : /var/keys/CCcam.ignore
    LOG WARNINGS : /tmp/warnings.txt

    SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0

    So far CCcam_2.1.3 looks promising

    root@dm800:/usr/bin# CCcam_2.1.3 -d

    03:54:29.345 CCcam: client user1@x, running CCcam 2.1.3

    Can someone point me in the right direction for the serial reader part?
    I have powered on the card reader and its plugged into the usb port of the dm800

    what card are you trying to share?

    are sure that the com port for the usb reader is COM3?

    look like newcs cannot communicate with the reader. try to disable UAC. Make sure you set correct com port. use 6 mhz setting. use ftdi driver for the reader if it is phoenix usb.

    I don't have the card yet so I'm using a non working whitey just to get things working and see if it will read the details.

    Also the usb reader isn't com3 anymore as that what it was on htpc in device manager.. for the dm800 shouldn't it be /dev/ttyusb or something? I dont know where to get this detail from, but the card reader is on phoenix 3.5mhz mode connected via serial to usb adapter to the dm800.

    on dm800

    go to menu,

    information,

    devices mannager

    the reader should show up with all required info.

    It could be a faulty reader...they get faulty all the time.

    Hey jtc2005

    I don't see Menu > Information > Devices Manager

    The closest I could see was in Messages and it had attached new USB
    Type: USB Vendor Spec
    Model: USB-Serial Controller
    Manufacturer: Prolific Tech

    Any other ideas for bringing up the connected usb card reader?

    Another good idea is download the plugin PPanel for CCAm then using the yellow button you can see if its reading the card or you have anyone connected..

    Or check the ccam.config on how to setup a web interface which is also easy

    This will keep you in the know

    Oh cheers mate I will give it a go later in the afternoon.

    I'm starting to think that I may need to install ATEN UC232A driver on linux as I've had this same problem on my MacOS not reading the usb/serial cable for the phoenix card reader.. see what happens when I try the ppanel plugin.

    SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0

    I think it should be more likely something like SERIAL READER : /dev/ttyUSB/0

    Cheers

    EDIT: not sure on DM800 but go to console, then stick in your usb to serial converter then after few second run command: dmsg
    it should show you exact name of the device.

    Yep its dmesg to bring up system attached devices but mine looked like something very generic like the below (what I also see in DM800 console messages)

    New USB
    Type: USB Vendor Spec
    Model: USB-Serial Controller
    Manufacturer: Prolific Tech

    EDIT: did you have your serial reader connected at the time to converter?

    I can't sugest anything elese as I'm not good with linux Try maybe Linux forum or maybe here someone else can help you.
    Maybe you should get one of this smargo readers (sold on this forum) ?

    Does your box has internal reader?

    Cheers

    EDIT: I do have similar conventer for my laptops and it show under windows as serial port. Maybe linux needs some driver to be recognized as such.
    EDIT2: or best try Gemini forum for this particular box

    Yep I'm going to order a smargo for less headaches

    Is there any way to find out why CCcam_2.1.3 isn't starting on my dreambox restart? Cant really find any good logs on the subject.
    I have to run it manually from /usr/bin/CCcam_2.1.3 and then it stays started by bringing up a ps aux.

    Good success everybody.

    Could not "activate" the card in the Dreambox (thank you mborkp!)
    Left it in my strong receiver for about 15 mins, got pics now
    Back in dreambox, card showing as valid.

    Next step more clients... thanks everyone

    For activating and send emm´s you can take the irdeto card in internal cardreader of Dreambox and use scam or camd3 for longer time.
