Default Voice recognition on tomtom 710

Anyone know if I can put voice recognition on my 710? I have upgraded it to latest Navcore, maps, ALG, Spoken street names etc. If I put it in 720/30 emulation mode and added required software?? Thanks......

Simple answer : you can add voice recognition by adding the folder "asr" in the root of your device in there a file "support_asr.dat" - can be made as an empty text file and you change the filename.
However : you need a microphone to be able to use it

Thanks for that, I will give it a go. What do you put in the txt file? I dont think I have the option in the tomtom menu for voice recognition so will I need to change the emulation mode to a 720 or 730 to get it? Anyway I will do a bit more research I think, it only occurred to me the other day so I though I'd just ask before I bothered spending a few hours on something I might not be able to do in the first place. Cheers.

    Cool !
In that case I'm happy you corrected me
The support_asr.dat is an empty file as stated before - the TT only checks for the filename
But you need a computer voice too.

Do you have a working computer voice installed ?
Do you have a Mic connected as suggest by Puca (thanks for that by the way!) ?
Have you tried a different emulation ,and what emulation are you using now?
So far you have not given any detailed info - that makes it hard to help....

Okay. I have an original about 4 years old TT710GO. It does seem to have an internal mic as I can use it via bluetooth to my phone without any attachments. I also have a mic lead which I usually use however when its mounted in the car as it's a lot easier for others to hear me.
NavCore is 8.412. Australia Maps 840.2562, Bootloader 4.8600 (which I haven't bothered with as all is working fine). I have the English Simon computer voice only as I'm a bit short on space for my SD. AGL etc which all work fine. I have it in Original (710) mode normally (which is probably why I can't see the icon menu for Voice recognition). I tried it in x20 mode and the menu's where active but I couldn't seem to get it to function, just pressed the button and nothing happened. Didn't ask me to speak etc...

you can find a complete ASR folder from a GO730 - hope that solves your problem.

Downunder, that has done the job!
Miracle worker!! I was missing a number of those files in ASR.
    Thanks again.

Minor issue. Getting a few screen freezes when I turn it on in x30 mode. I take SD card out and it works fine until I switch it off again, then sometimes it freezes again. Seems to be frozen when I turn it on again in the place I was when I turned it odff. Could this be to do with my switch files being set wrongly? As it was an original 710 it didn't have any switch files that i know of and just have it set as 'Org'. Now im using it in x30 mode will I need to add a few things etc?

The 710 is a bit tricky - same goes for the 910 and 630
You have to try what emulation works best.
There is a posting "Switchfiles for dummies" (search my threads) that can explain you most of the settings.
Maybe a hard reset (hold reset for 30sec.) followed by the TT clear flash tool will help to solve the problem....
