Default How to add extra sat to horizon meter.

I was able to pick up one of these horizon meters quite cheap and have spent time searching through horizon web site looking for answers how to load an additional sat to the program.

I did download an update for Aust. But I can’t find any way of adding one that’s not on their server list.

I wanted to add Ipstar sat which is between Chinasat6B and Asiasat4 at 119deg.
Any ideas ?? Some one may have one and can advise..Thanks

    G'Day Cobber,
I went through registering etc. but unable to get past the European List.
Did get the user manual describing how to update via their site, but absolutely nothing for DIY.

Cannot see any way of adding other Sats at all.
Seems to be exclusively set up for their lists.
Probably why you picked it up cheap?

    Hi from NZ

These meters are VERY good. I have had one for 3 years!!

DOn't use the downloads!! Get the software to generate your own lists. It works WAY better to make your own than use the area related downloads.

    Hi,
No, you need SatEditHDSM 1-23. I have it and it is the latest version so it will work on the new USB meters and the older serial ones like mine. It is about 1.2Mb from memory.

Would you point me in the right direction finding this with a web link or maybe just tell me where to find it.

I did read this info on a different site which i'm aiming for....
The satellite data is upgradeable from downloaded HEX files via our web site taking around 30 seconds to update, this feature is very useful for specialist applications like broadband or Vsat installations

    Hi,

Horizon could send it to you or I could possibly email it to you since it is only a bit over a Mb by the looks.

Very frustrating when they know what you need and they dangle the carrot out in front of you.
This is very interesting from Post #20 with some links.

Interesting that we both had the same problem. After months of trying to get a working transponder file from Natalinna at Horizon my problem was passed on to Robert Sydee their Technical Manager. He was very helpful with suggestions and eventually sent me the SatEdit Program. His email is rob@horizonhge.com . It was Robert who suggested that the problem was with the LNB LO ; I thought that the published transponder frequencies were wrong ! I found that the SatEdit program would not run properly under Windows 98SE but worked fine under XP. I had to use a USB to serial port converter as the program did not recognise my serial port properly. Another point to note is that Windows XP may block the Zip file until you unblock it. Do this by right clicking on the file name, select properties and then unblock.
