Yep already found this out. Maybe no one in NZ would have paid for them, not worth the effort.
Am across the ditch in NZ at the moment and noticed that SKY NZ were also doing the 4 extra pay TV channels for the winter olympics. The big difference between them and the Foxtel ones, is that while Foxtel are charging poor mugs $65 for the priviledge of receiving them, SKY are providing them free for those already subscribing to the standard sports package.

If you feed ducks at a pond, chances are your bound to feed a goose or two without even knowing it.

Foxtel gave it to me as a sweetener when we got our IQ2
Great!
I would love to see fox loose money on this
Looks like Seven has lost big time with the tennis
I hate wall to wall sports. As if anyone would take weeks out of there lives and glue themselves in front of the TV to watch some twit chase a ball around

Tennis ratings

FORGET Lost the US drama, Channel 7 could rename its Australian Open coverage this year, Lost: The Missing Audience Numbers.
In a crisis for the network not the sport, Seven has shed more than four million viewers nationally, according to ratings data by leading media analyst, Steve Allen.
Allen's Fusion Strategy figures, based on the OzTam ratings survey, revealed the official broadcaster has seen its audience drop by about 40 per cent year-on-year - with the Australia Day comparison declining by more than half.
Reality is an invention of my imagination.

I do sometimes watch the tennis, but didn't much this year, the thing that pisses me off most about the 7 coverage is the constant promos they run for their 'after the tennis' this show returns or this great new show starts etc.
Fair enough run promos during the ad breaks, but don't have them on constantly during the actual coverage.
I don't watch home and away normally, so why would I need/want to hear one of the woodies telling how exciting it will be when it returns.............after the tennis.

lol..... thats so true.
I watched a bit of it, and hated how the commentators go on about absolutely nothing. sure they have to fill the blanks, as do all commentators, but it struck me this year, about all the BS they go on with.... sorry op OTT..
geez that sucks having to pay extra.... not sure if I will or not...

ha ha sucked in. Teach them for putting out shoddy coverage. I mean for gods sake, why delay it into Qld by 1 hour? What possible benefit does that achieve?.. also Adelaide by 30 mins.
Seven needs to realise that there are several other methods for watching it live, legal and illegal, and people are increasingly using those methods.

I think thats why they are charging for the privlege of watching it. I know that I'll be grabbing what I want to see of other sources.
I dont mind it if I know whats coming on when. Thats what pisses me off about the olympic coverage, you have no idea whats going to be on when. All I want to see is the Ice Hockey (and generally only games involving Sweden, Canada, Russia) but I know that on Channel 9 I would have to watch the whole damn coverage to see it (and only get highlights).
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.
The full programme has been posted on the foxtel site..

Nice (still not paying that much for it), I laughed when I saw Channel 9's listing
Oh dear just read their write ups on sports, entertaining yes, factual no, embarassing for whoever wrote it, definately.

I also only want to watch the hockey but from watching the pathetic coverage from the last 3 or 4 winter olympics, all you get is figure skating every night, delayed by half a day. Whoop-de-f$#@ing-doo...
Play the bloody lot or let someone else have it. SBS didn't mind picking up the Ashes coverage and making 9 look like fools...
As for the f0xtel coverage, sorry - not getting any $ from me.

I reckon its a certain cure for insomnia! I wont be watching it or paying for it. If its on nine then how can foxtel claim ONLY ON FOXTEL AND AUSTAR? Do they ever care about false and misleading advertising?
Personally I cant wait for it to start only so the ads on austar/foxtel to "sign up now for it" to stop. But knowing those bastards theyll keep plugging it to the last day
Foxtel are freaking out that they are going to make a massive loss, putting the foxtel logo and the olympic rings and the terribly intrusive red button order icon on all channels is a sure sign things are not going as planned, they will have less than 5000 poor saps willing to throw away $65 by the time they open. Perhaps in America they would sell lots of subscriptions but Aussies dont give a rats about snow sports!
with how crap Seven's coverage looked (full of delays, self promos and ads), no wonder nobody watched.
As for our (NZ), 'free' Olympic coverage on Sky, I guess that is Sky's business model, they so far haven't charged any extra for special events.
But our coverage is SD, bunged on the end of a transponder. You get it in HD and pay for the privilege
And then to think that once upon a time Olympic sports were all amateurs, there was no profit to be made and it was all fta.
Capitalism has really raised it's ugly head and with better technology available we should get better viewing but this is not necessarily happening.
For example the multiple terrestrial channels would be an ideal opportunity to show multiple sports that are taking place simultaneously, but no. We get reruns of other (older) shows or sitcoms instead.
