There are probably quite a few extra features on a dreambox,
but the two that I think are important is that the NDS card works in the front slot and they have a working either port on the back.

Hey nath, Dreamboxes are now almost 8 years old.
Not much fuss about them anymore mate.

Some people trying the HD models, being the DM800 and DM8000

Basically they are open source firmware... and they are a little PC, so very customable for firmware writers and plug-in writers.
It's not just some silly subscription card that will run in them, its a enthusiast box.
    Everything is software driven.
Plus they play MP3, .ts files, .VOB files, jpegs, mpegs
They can stream to your wifi laptop or any other pc on the network

The list goes on and on... You really needed to read up on them.

Well the following link may help you with the decision, as will either get you enthused or too much information and totally confused!

Highly recommend the DM500s, as this is a great basic SD entry device that you can utilise. I have one of these in one room and the Strong in the other and find pros and cons for each box, although the Dreambox wins

Noticed that DM518 (replacement for Dm500s) are currently available, as would suggest getting one of these to play with - but keep your Strong, as if the Dreambox "aint your cup of tea", then simply move it on and go back to the Strong.

Check the Buy, Sell and Trade page of this forum if you want to get a Dreambox, as some traders are selling these brand new.
