    Default DM800 Clones & Bootloaders

    G'Day

Potentially in the market for a DM800 Clone and would like to understand more about the bootloader’s before I commit.

What I understand is the DM800’s have a bootloader contained within a sim, which can restrict which images can be loaded. Original DM800 update their sims when newer images are loaded, but clone DM800 have static sims which cannot be updated. So depending on which version of bootloader is on the sim (70, 72, 74, etc) dictates which images can be loaded.

If this is true then what are the bootloader version in the sims of the currently available clone’s and what images are they restricted too?

Are there any other issues with the DM800 clones?
    MAC address conflicts.
Heat issues (which I believe have been addressed via tuner drivers in newer images.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Zman

I think it's a hard question to answer since different clone vendors seem to have different sim versions and boot loaders from I have found when I was trying to locate a jade3 image. My clone seems to use sim2.01 and I found a site that all the images with patched bootloader all done. just flashed it (after the original jade3 one failed) and all has seemed to be well.

heat - there is a fan in mine, but it's very noisy. no mac conflicts that I've seen, but i've only got one dm800 + 7020.

    takes a while to boot.

pros. loaded crossepg which uses the native epg system from satellite which is very good. times seem to be more accurate than the one coming from oztivo.

If you buy a box with bootloader 75 can you load an older image that uses an earlier bootloader?
Are the patch bootloader images readily available?

    Cheers,

    Hi Fernbay
What version of sim / bootloader do you sell in your DM800's?

Best to PM me as this is not the BS&T forum.

The answer though is #72 and #75 at the moment.

As for any bootloader being better.... Well, that's somewhat of a moot point these days, with hacked bootloaders and all

I take it #75 has the most options when it comes to images?

    Like DM500 / DM518....

Images are nothing - Only a tiny part of it.

They are like changing skins & plugins.

Its not that hard to patch new images with older bootloaders.
