I'd try a firmware upgrade.
I've had a Strong on SelecTV for quite a few years, no real issue, occasionally getting "Scrambled Channel" if I flicked around too quick.
Last week or so, it comes up "Scrambled Channel" just while I am watching a show. Not often, but enough to be annoying.
Switching off and on sometimes rectifies, but it seems to be getting more regular.
Whatya reckon, Decoder dying?

Make sure your card is making "good contact" with the card reader. Remove card and give a wipe, sometimes requires a bit of tape across the end of card to build it up in thickness. (opposite side to chip) But not too much. See if that helps.
I'll try the card tape bizzo first, it's been running fine for years but maybe the contacts have desprung ..I've tried cleaning the card contacts with microscrub already.
If no go- firmware upgrade time..I'll research.

I had a old strong many years ago and it did the same thing (not with Select )
And after trying everything from LNB Dish cable.... it ended up being caps in the PSU LOL
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Well that's a point. what model or how old is the strong?

yeh, I was wondering about the PSU. Allways has run hot and I bet they are not 105 degree caps.
Its a 4658X and at least 4 years old..
I've added tape to the back of the card and I'll see how that goes first. Then pull it apart.

Tape on the card no go. I'll try a f/w upgrade but if still no go then looks like a bench job, maybe a good excuse to buy a PVR model.
