Wow, great support at least gf1966... getting your money back is almost unheard of.
Amazing these things have faults already, i wonder how many people have been thinking LED... and then read this?
Hi I have a new samsung 40" LED TV that has developed a dark patch (maybe lost 20% of its brightness) in the RH top corner. It extends from the middle of the display right thru to the corner. It is only noticeable about 30% of the time.
Sometimes the fault dissapears completely!!
Now Samsung have given me a refund but have not picked up the faulty unit.
My question is there any chance of getting it fixed? Could it be something simple or will it require the whole panel to be replaced?
Any ideas?

only a matter of time, sounds like a dodgy connection, it could be internal inside the panel or external, try the lg baseball bat solution, umm actually DONT do that because at any point samsung will want that unit back and if you dont supply it, they check it and it's not working, they'll send you a bill!
When I explained to the guy what avatar I wanted, that wasn't what I meant!
