Default Laptop issue - resuming from standby and low-power mode

hullo all. Here to test your mettle.

I have a DELL inspiron 1520 , 2gb ram all that had for a few months. Works fine for most things except one detail.

Firstly the computer is VERY slow to load when it hits the XP GUI , you can look at the HD light glare out , and most progs are slow to load onto the shortcut menu etc.
Nexy The laptop freezes and must be restarted when it hits standby ( IE lid is closed , or power saving mode). Gives the following error

    BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : 00000016 BCP2 : 0000001C BCP3 : 00000000
    BCP4 : 805024BA OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1
From my google searching this seems to be an issue with one of the RAM sticks ( failed?) but does anyone else have some ideas of what to test/try ?

Another kettle of fish is DELL themselves , i have tried sending them an email via the " dell support centre" 3 times but NO response. This is over 2 weeks with a onscreen promise of 48 hrs. Not happy. Anyone here know how to wake dell up and get them to fix this ?

Yes what WoodStock said. Download Memtest x86 and burn the image to a CD. Boot the machine from CD and Memtest will start and check your memory.

i have tried sending them an email via the " dell support centre" 3 times but NO response. This is over 2 weeks
Did you try calling them, they do have telephone numbers listed.
Relying on email only is not a good idea, unless you have delivery and read reciept you don't know for sure they even got there, may have been dumped in a quarantine as spam etc.
Give them a call , if your laptop is still under warranty or service then they should fix it.

Just got this from the dell Web site.
