Is that pretty much it, or is oscam generally being more actively developed too?
And what about CCCam and the other options around, which is the latest/greatest or best for my needs & why?

Do you know of a good, up-to-date, guide for DVB-C card/s + foxtel + Linux?
Also I'm finding tricky to decide on the ideal card, let alone the best software combo!

    Thank-you very much.

I'm still at the stage of determining with 100% certainty that oscam really is my best option.
Or whether there's better apps in GNU/Linux user-land to assist w/NDS encrypted DVB-C.
Poking around on eurocardsharing and oscam forums to work that out....

Then I'll decide on best DVB-C card (hopefully there's dual tuners)....

Oscam is being developed faster than anything else.

Neither myself or anyone else here can tell you what is the best combo for your needs. Just download the software, try them all out and find out for yourself what you like. If you don't try it you'll never know!

No, but you're more than welcome to write one. However you learn far more by just experimenting and testing yourself.

    How do you know this?

I'm sure no one can tell me what the best combo is for my needs...
The different permutations/combinations is mainly what I'm trying to ascertain, then I'll hit them one-by-one.

    I may well!
What's your basic config; NewCS + SASC-NG + what card etc?

another guide for those that may be interested (not mine)

I'm using ACAMD as a plugin for DVBLink TVSource.

Sorry for the delayed response, I forgot to subscribe to the thread.

You mentioned that with NEWCS you didnt experience this problem.

How did you manage to get this NEW ORANGE CARD (096C) to work with NEWCS?
    Was it a different card?
    Were you using ACAMD aswell?

No, it was the same card (it's not new, I've had it since I upgraded to HD in June 2008). NewCS worked fine with the orange card, I just needed to tell it my boxkey (which apparently you don't need to do if you have one of the older blue cards).

The only problem was, I wasn't able to watch any of my HD channels with NewCS, which was kind of a dealbreaker, and I was going to go back to the STB if it weren't for OSCam.

Oh, and yes, I was using ACAMD. Everything was the same, except that I am now using OSCam instead of NewCS.

But the GNU/Linux set-up is quite different to the Win7 equivalent.
And you're wanting to use the latter aren't you?

The windows setup is via cygwin which is far too slow for me, rendering it unusable. I am using the Linux version in a VM (though it does the same thing on a seperate physical machine).

Oh if your set-up's in an Ubuntu VM then your enquiry is totally relevant.
Unfortunately I can't be of any help just yet.....

I'm going to try it all in my custom Ubuntu-based build (no VM) very soon.
But 1st I'm trying to determine the ideal DVB-C card.

    Ok, so next challenge...

How does one watch the 2 x Foxtel Box Office movies they are entitled to as part of their platinum subby using ubuntu and oscam as the server on saay... a DM600 for instance?

I've read that most people use oscam as their server in the DM and then change the Card Server to be oscam and do it that way...

    jtc2005 you have any ideas?
