    Default Diplex dreambox 500 question

I have just purchased a dbox 500. I have an octagon 518 that I can watch in all rooms of the house via diplex. I removed the diplex cable from that and put it in the back of the dbox assuming I could watch that throughout the house but it doesn't work. Could someone tell me why it doesn't and what I can do to make it work please? Thankyou.

So you have purchased a Dream 500 to replace the octagon 518 - 2 things spring to mind..........

Is the smart card happy in the Dream ?? - have you seen a picture on any telly confirming it is all OK? (might need to use the Yellow/red/white leads on the back directly to the telly) - if so

Do you have the output TV signal of the octagon 518 set at a certain UHF channel, is the dbox set at the same UHF channel - otherwise you may need to tune each TV back in to the STB - just a thought

Now there is a problem here, the DM500 does not have RF (in nor out) unless you plug the scart or A/V out to a modulator first.

Thanks for the quick answers guys.
Freakee1, yes I have good pictures. I have gone through the uhf band, and for good measure the vhf bands, but nothing. Got the colour leads going to the telly as well. So thanks but I think I am ok in those areas.
Jonc the octagon has iv out, and tv out where the diplex goes, whereas my dm500 clone has only ant out, which doesn't work. So in regards to the modulator could you tell me exactly what I may need, sounds like you are probably on the money. Thanks again.

My brother got me one of these - never missed a beat

not sure if it is the best but I just put a splitter in the antenna output, put the output of the Hill unit into the splitter and 4 extra channels around my place - Austar, DVD, & a couple of Digital STB for telly

Ok I purchased an rf modulator from dsmiths and connected it via scart to scart and bingo, pictures. So thanks again, the modulator was the missing link.
The only thing that is noticable is a darker and ever so slightly less clearer picture. I have changed the uhf channel on the modulator and retuned the tv's but it makes little or no difference. Would this be just a consequence of adding the modulator to the dbox, or using scart to scart? The octagon has a defined tv out which gave a perfect picture thru the diplex, so I am guessing adding the modulator causes some extra interference. Appreciate your thoughts.
