What happens to other services that are on Aurora?? ie NITV,WESTLINK,ICTV(if it gets granted a licence)and all other services, I am sure that i read somewhere that NITV would not be in VAST lineup....I dont think our indigenous communitys all over Aus would like it if they did not have access to it, as alot probably do not have a fox or austar sub which it is in there basic package.
Any members have any info about it???

Even if it stays on along with Westlink,TVSN and Expo who will see it except for those still on Aurora?
We dont know yet but I would be very surprised if these new UEC's for VAST will allow you to 'Free Tune'.
Of course, they may allow it to be added to the line up if you can prove your Idigenous and other wise culturaly disadvantaged.

I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Keep in mind that the new VAST service hasn't even got off the ground for WA viewers, so Aurora shut-down is a fair while away yet.
* Bill Paxton is the only actor to be killed by Alien, a Terminator, and the Predator.
Aurora is expected to remain until the end of analogue terrestrial TV transmissions in Australia, which is 31 Dec 2013.
This is regardless of when VAST and the WA service are fully operational.
Well.. that's what the government are saying today, at least.
They'll probably just remain as stand-alone services, free or otherwise (a bit like Al Jaz before it got added to Austar). I really hope the new UEC's can pick up other channels - I quite like some of NITV's movies.

Sorry, post in wrong forum.
FYI- yes I do enjoy the occasional NITV program, plus being a fan of Al Jazeera.

what you can do is if you have a stb with both lnb in & out you can run a cable from input out to input in on the second box and have a\v splitter box so you can change between the two stb's this way you can have both the vast & fta chanels.
Its not the 'Doing' that is the problem, its the 'GETTING'.
So long as they all remain Vertical, splitting or pass thru's are easy.
With a Dual out LNB, a multiway switcher and you have the lot, PayTV included IF your authorised !!!

My understanding is that Aurora will be around in its current format for at least the next three years pending the mandated digital switch over in the remote areas, ie 2013; and possibly another year after that to allow for a full conversion.
Is there any chance that in that time, Aurora services could be upgraded to widescreen? The current services are really crappy on a big widescreen TV.
The govt have stated that Aurora will exist at least until all Australian analogue terrestrial transmitters have been switched off (at present, that date is 31 Dec 2013).

No chance whatsoever.
Can we get our Aurora Cards activated for the new VAST areas, seems pointless buying a new card and STB....when we already have the Irdeto 2 cards
1 x VU+ Duo HD Twin Tuner PVR, 2 X AZbox HD, 2 X Opticum 9500 HD, Unotelly DNS & VPN, 2 X Roku Media players, 3 X WD-TV Media Players, and some shitty Vast STB's
Yep........ and I agree.
It's pointless spending huge amounts of money to upgrade outdated technology when you've just spent millions developing a new service that will provide the same thing.
Hopefully VAST will be made available sooner, rather than later to those who rely totally on Aurora now and won't be getting a digital terrestrial TV translator in their area.
