    Question DVD Recorder repairs

I've got two DVD Recorders not working, with I think, stuffed power supplies. One Nu-Tec, one Conia. My experiences with the repairers suggested by the suppliers has not been good with other products. Can anyone suggest any reliable, reasonably priced repairers in the S.E. suburbs of Melbourne. I'm in Ferntree Gully. Cheers.

The Conia is a real common one where just one of the caps in the secondary
side of the power supply blows its top
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

Are they still under warranty?. If so, not much you can do. If not, try replacing all the electrolytic caps in the supply with both units. Fixes 'em 75% of the time.

Yes they are made in China as are all my TV's, mobile phones, etc. including some top brand names, not that I include those two. And yes they are out of warranty.

Some of the junk that comes out of China is made under license.. usually brand name items such as Panasonic etc. These tend to be slightly better than the average piece of Chinese junk as they are usually designed in Japan and assembled in China.

The rest of it however is just crap. Anything with a weird name like "Kamakooza" etc.

To be avoided at all cost, and when encountered, to be buried in the nearest hole or catapaulted as far out to sea as possible.
