Default Can anyone get tomtom working on WinCE 6.0 on a Chinese GPS?

I tried following hollowman's and Downunder's tutes on installing Tomtom and after doing everything correctly, it wouldn't load because of "not enough memory" which is bs because this device's got 128mb ram

Igo8 works fine but I want to switch to Tomtom

did some googling and the problem seems to be because my unit shipped with WinCE6.0 whereas all the existing Tomtom releases only work with 5.0 and 4.2

    My question is either:

    1) anyone got Tomtom working on WinCE6.0? or
    2) anyone know how to downgrade WinCE6.0 to 5.0?

    Cheers

Its a known problem on 128 mb units. Ironically Tomtom works on 64 mg units.

Sanity is 100% correct tomtom seems to have issues with wince6 running 128mb of ram whereas my 64mb wince6 unit runs tomtom fine albeit with a little help of coping the mapsettings.cfg as per demonfatals tutorial.

I managed to get it working on my Chinese 5" Evergrow 128MB CE6 device using this version posted on MobilePassion. Link: . However you will need a MapSettings.cfg file from a working version with a current route set up for it to work properly.

yeah i tried that version as well on my 128mb unit and it too failed with out of memory errors.

it seems to be device specific what tomtom will and wont run on.

Don't waste your time with 128MB units no service as that is all you will get "no service" I spent 2 weeks playing with TT7 on my 7" CE6 with 128MB and no luck. But in saying that I found an old TT6 version which works just fine but will not run the latest maps. Have installed igo8, amigo, sygic & R66 all working great, go figure!!! and at the end of the day I will leave TT7 out for now.

    Typan,

Could you show the link to get Sygic to work with 7" Chinese 2-din Wince 6 128MB?

    Thanks.

Is there some kind soul who could post/send me a working "MapSettings.cfg file from a working version with a current route" PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I have spent ages but finally got the right map and mapcore working only to get the dreaded "out of memory" message on a win Ce 128mb 2 din unit.

PS forgot to mention , I'm in OZ (Gold Coast to be precise - so presumably any short aussie route would do - or is it not that simple?????????????

I can upload a map settings file for you but it needs to be from the same map and I am not sure what you are using.
I had tried the version you have but could not get it run even with a correct stored route.
Have you looked at the thread by tabardajun on mobilism? he has posted an emulator which will run Tomtom on a pc so you can make your own map settings. I used Australia_855_2883 on a PDA to get my settings to copy.

Thanks anyway, and yes I have looked at those threads, but I've given up with TT, think I'll just stick to Garmin and Primo

I wouldn't mind a mapsettings.cfg file if you're happy to post it, I think my map version is 855.2883

I am using the latest 860_3100 map, I saved a route to make a working map settings file but then realised I cant just upload it as an attachment, as most of the other forums will do.
I tried several times using the megaupload filebox but this returns an "error please try again" message!
Any ideas to get around this would be helpfull, I suppose I could email it to you if you send me your address by PM.

    Default TomTom on WinCE6

    Hi there,

my Chinese GPS WinCE6/128 works with TomTom v7.910.
    See this instruction.
    " 7.910 (9185) WinCE 6.0/5.0/4.2 incl. WinCE5 Emulator"
The method described uses a CE5 Emulator
    Create a new TT7 Navigator.mcr-file with the CE5-Emulator.
It seems difficult but follow the YouTube tutorial and you will success.
    BTW:
You can only get TT v7.910 working on your Chinese GPS gadget, but no other TT.version.
Hope this hint will help you.

    Hi all,

Thread resurrection time,,, I am afraid

I have the Windows v5.00 CE. - Chinese origin.
Running IGO8, which I can't get along with happily.
I thought it had 4 GB memory, but now I realise it is also 128 MB ram, and the rest is "other memory.

So, now I find myself in the same boat, but fortunately, I am running Windows 5.00CE and not Windows 6.00CE, which seems to be the problem version.

    Any updates most gratefully appreciated.

I recently purchased WinCE6.0 that has 64mb memory unit and tried to install TomTom navigator on it using the excellent tutorials presented here and help from members

I tried every possible "Navigator" folder and nothing seems to work, as soon as I run an exe file on my GPS - it just hangs and does not generate the file with my deviceID.

Is there any way to downgrade to Win 5.0 ver?
