Default Any bought anything from crazystu.com.au?

    Hey guys,

I found this deal on crazystu.com.au, it was Mediastar HD 1100s Twin Recording HD Satellite PVR Mpeg 4/2 H264 DVB-S, DVB-S2 for $288 dollars with Free SelecTv starter pack value $49.95 which includes 2nd month free subscription and NO Contract. Available by redemption. Beneficiary must subscribe on handover of the starter pack....now i need the selectv card because i was just about to sign up to them once i purchase the box lol.

So my question is any anyone tired crazystu before? do you think the Mediastar HD 1100s is a good STB? can anyone find it cheaper?

The link to the offer is:

If anyone else can recommend any other box that is HD and can take cards from Selectv in them, if it has blind scan option in it would be great also but in the price range of lower than 288 dollars.

    Thanks again for your help

    Hi tHaMiR,
I bought a Mediastar HD 1100s Decoder from crazystu's recently, supposedly compatable with Selectv but card would not work, firmware needed updating then worked fine, Got link for firmware from Leroypatrol.
Very happy with the Mediastar you wont buy anything better for the money. Already had Selectv card so dont know what the offer with selectv was about and did not receive any info with purchase although it was offered at there site. Hope this helps.

I try and make sure all receivers I ship hava the latest firmware etc plus I've had requests to prescan satellites before shipping so there's the little extra things I can do that makes the difference

    Id stick with LeroyPatrol,

Ive noticed he spends a fair amount of his time on the forum helping out people that are having trouble with these boxes bought from him and other stores. Its evident he knows these like the back of his hand lol.

Whats $11? anyway (2 x Schooners), you can't really put a price on decent product support.

Tyre kickers can be such time wasters

Whats the bet he decides to save the $11 and then come back here looking for support?

Thanks guys. Yes I've helped a number of people with a few Mediastar issues and firmware etc so I'd hope when they recommend or need another receiver they'll remember "hey that Leroy dude on Austech helped me out"

    Hi Pheggie,

Yes it's the same firmware. No new update yet. I actually only asked Mediastar about this earlier in the week.

I'm looking at replacing my aging mediastar 8xxx combo unit,
are there any good boxes that can record satelite while watching/recording FTA without getting encryption issues? eg with the mediastar, if you record a selectv ch and watch a fta one, the selectv recording will error out or fault due to encryption issues.

the hyundai likes alright , descent price too.

I have recorded with no issues with either sat/terr receiver I sell. To be 100% sure I can double check and schedule sat recordings while watching my FTA programs. Let me know which box you're interested in.

    Cheers,
    Leroy

Edit: The Mediastar does everything. Recording from either tuner with no issues no black screens when recording paytv channels so a true twin tuner. The Hyundai is considered a combo because you can obviously use both tuners but only one at a time. I was recording a paytv channel and when I went to change channels, the only channels I could change to were the ones on the same TP. Same for if I was watching FTA channels and recording 7HD I could change to the other channels in the 7 bouquet like 7Two, 7 SD etc. If you've got anything else you'd like me to check let me know.
