Can it be it's a Mesada 3520? Look at unit's platine...

I'm wondering why you don't contact the manufacturer of device's mainboard: . Ask them for firmware that relates to

because all other stuff isn't important for them.

This morning I had the urge to fix my unbranded GPS which I think is of Chinese origon so I started to read this thread and after about a dozen or so pages I flicked to the end of the thread and read backwards, after all it is chinese.Again after a dozen or so pages I was totaly blown away by the number of different systems and updates and firmwares etc that have been mentioned in the thread and as such am totally confused so for the moment I have adopted the old saying "if it aint broke don't fix it" but I did give the reset button a push and would you believe that fixed a few of the issues that have nagged me.
Having said that I would still like to explore the thing some more and am asking for help to identify it.
It measures 180X110, has a black border around the display branded only "GPS".The ROM is V.912C.211000.110816.128M and APP V16ABF-U120-HD-EN. It runs WINCE6. I think I remember from one of the screens the GPS system as being Atlas.
I am interested to know what app will access it, it has a setting for Activesync but Activesync doesn't recognise it.
Any help would be appreciated. Oh, the barcode on the back is GPS2011BT78757 but I couldn't elaborate on that with any of the searches I did using full or partial number..

Probably it's a unit (also?) sold by , at least in their forums a firmware update for a GPS same to yours was discussed:

Thanks jwoegerbauer, interesting reading on Dragon Pearl but it raises a question, how can I determin which rom is newer/older from the version number? Is part of the number a date or are they sequential.

In the past days, with a lot of time on my hands, I have read this thread almost from start to finish and finish to start looking for info about my 7" unit and have seen almost enough "bricks" to build a small house some from loading mismatched firmware but many from deleting registry entries. Curiosity suggests that I ask what do people expect to gain by editing the registry. Not something I will be doing even if I knew how.

Honestly said, don't know this. IMHO the only chance to get out whether an update to existing one is available, is to contact the board manufacturer.

    >>> Dragon Pearl GPS units

    ROM versions

    V.918C.211000.110816.128M
    V.918C-128M

Can't detect a date/time info in general is encoded there, but perhaps 110816 may be a date string

    Firmware/Software versions

    V1.6ABF-NUI20-HD-EN
    V2.1ABF-NUI20-HD-EN

    Same

    >>>> YF units

    ROM versions

    82F.2018.34M2584Q
    82F.2018.36M2584Q
    82F.2622.35M2584Q

Since neither year 2018 nor 2622 present or past, obviously a date/time info isn't given with this

    Firmware/Software versions

    3.6.E93.10.21
    3.6.E018.12.3

At the risk of becoming a bricklayer I took the bit between my teeth and did some experimenting on my unit.
My conclusion is that it is fairly bricklayer resistant, the slightly differently named V912.xxx.128m found on Dragon Pearl forum loaded and ran quite well but still don't know whether it was a step forward or a flash back but various IGO/Primo versions ran quite happily during road testing. Full of confidence by now I loaded V918C.xxx.128M (changed the .img name to 912C) and to my surprise it too seems to work very well, bench testing I havn't found a function that doesn't work yet and the touch screen certainly is much more sensitive and easier to use (after claibration). Will road test today and post if I encounter any problems. Still hopeful for reply to email to Dragon Pearl but not really confident. Stay tuned.

Late news: Couldn't fault it during road test running IGO/Primo2/I3Primo. it seems to do everything where and when it should

Hello, I have navigation like this and it was working perfectly with iGo 8 and iGo Primo (they are on my internal memory - i dont use sd card)

A week ago I decided to put the latest iGo 8 (iGO 8.3.5.183522- it goes directly to navigation) so i put it and i had a resolution problem (it was showing only 1/4 of the screen), so I went to sys.txt and changed the interface resolution but left the rawdisplay resolution unchanged so i have a device like this and I cant acces my device via usb connection because I cant go to my menu:

Does anyone know how to do a factory reset or connect the device to my computer without making it go to usb mass storage? Thank you.

Really bad if you switched USB mode from ActiveSync to MassStorage, and you now can't access device. If it's a YF or MTK based unit, then they may be a workaround though: You have to create two .ini files directly on SD card, which are Shell.ini and YFAUTORUN.ini. Both supposed to have this inside

    \sdmmc\CeDesktop.exe

or whatever app you want to run to get access to WinCE of your device. CeDesktop, a full CE explorer replacement, you can download .

So I have to make 2 files on sd card Shell.ini and YFAUTORUN.ini. And they both have \sdmmc\CeDesktop.exe in them. But what does the last sentence mean?

You could run instead of CeDesktop.exe a registry editor of your choice (ex. ) to switch device into ActiveSync mode ...

Notice: If CE's internal name of SD-card isn't sdmmc you must replace sdmmc with the correct SD-card's name.

Is there anything that can be done when when The gps starts up with a blue screen and says "Please Update the Firmware" I've tried a few 82F firmware the unit sees the img file but doesn't seem to load it all

I've cleared the registry many times

I'm a total novice at this

I believe the unit is a LH900N or a clone of one

    the screen reads

    Ram 64MB

Flash 0(128MB) make me think the the flash has nothing on it

I've can load the splash screen using a bmp file then the unit display the splash screen and stop

Fro what I've read the ce 6.0 is stored on a different rom so I thought i should be able to get it to start up

I've also been trying to do the \sdmmc\CeDesktop.exe but read on another forum that sometime the sdmmc is not always used eg sometimes its sdcard or storage card is the any way to tell or is it trial and error which I have been trying

Would appreciate some tip or some direction to some more reading

I've even been reading up the Russian chinese forums via translation the chinese keep mentioning "82F Brush" maybe it the translator can't think what brush mean maybe "clean"

Why not just contact who you sold the GPS instead of posting your issue(s) here?
LH900N can be a model number of Navistar or of Eroda. If it's NaviStar than OS is Windows CE 5.0 otherwise it's Windows CE 6.0 ... And board can be both MSD and YF ...

How to make a .ini file? Just make them in notepad with the Shell.ini and YFAUTORUN.in in it? How should i put CeDesktop.exe on SD card to? How to see what is internal name of SD-Card?

I have emailed Dragon Pearl and in reply they directed me to Bruno on the DP forum.
I note that on the DP forum all firmware discussion is now limited to a restricted DP customer only area for wich I cannot qualify because I didn't purchase my device direct from them and do not have an order number.
So I guess I've hit the wall on this one.

Yes I thought I might try DP as they have version 3.6.E018.12.3 but I to don't have a order number either so I'm locked out as well

A link to 3.6.E018.12.3 can be found . See post #1010 there. Probably you have to register with 4pna.com to enable download feature.

BTW: Another great (esp. for YF, MTK, Apical based units).
