I mean change a normal avi file, to a split screen file so when put in tv it comes as 2 pictures (left and right) then press the 3d button choose left, right option and wala, 3d.
Same as the way ice age came. Not sure if its really needed as Samsung also convert 2D to 3D but its something to play with.

2D to 3D in the Samsung works quite well. I don't think what your doing will work but anything is worth a try.

It works well, you get a lot more depth than just using the TV's 2d-3d conversion but there is a tiny flicker problem with fast movements. But im sure we will work that out soon. I have done toy story 2 and looks great (except for the flicker prob).

After transcoing it to a resolution the TV can display 3 times, as I got it wrong once and someone turned off the pc once as well, I finally got it to work it looks great. (NOTE to self make sure you watch the movie first on the PC with the speakers on.) It's in Japanese I think, would someone care to translate it for me. Well that’s 8GB download wasted and 18hrs pc time transcoding oops.

I'm using AVS converter 6.4 from a torrent download settings below.

convert MKV to AVI. could do it as MkV

    HD Video 1080P H.264/AVC 4200Kbps Audio MP3, 256Kbps

    In advanced select 16:9

Converts the 9Gb file to about 4Gb and takes 6 and a half hours on a quad core Q6600 to process
