Default Foxtel on W7 HTPC using Jaycar Pheonix, NewCS, AcamD, DVBVIewer and DVBlink

    Hi all,

First time posting on this site, so if I've put this in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

I am in the process of setting up a HTPC with Windows 7 Media Center, Twinhan DVB-S card, Jaycar Pheonix cardreader, Newcs, Acamd, DVBVieweer and DVBlink. The point of all this it to get my Foxtel service direct into the PC with using the analog card workaround.

I've got it all assembled, have a Dual DVB-T card working like a dream. I've setup the cardreader and all software. I can get the un-encrypted channels through DVBViewer, but when I run the decryption part of it all, I receive errors.

    My NewCS config is:-

    Default NDS on HTPC

Hi.. looking at your log this is something to do almost definately with your clients login Deskey because the card appears to initialise fine.

    TRY:-

    1. WinCSC instead of AcamD and use the 5.25 protocol and not 5.0.

    or

    2. NDSCam 0.0.7 plugin and use that to connect directly to the card.

I have found through bitter experience that connecting an HTPC with AcamD or WinCSC though usually causes glitches and crashes... it really does 'poll' the card a lot and isnt that stable... if you can... setup and old dunger in the garage.. I use a 700Mhz Duron with 128Mb of ram... chuck Linux Ubuntu 8.04 on it.. install NewCS and CCcam on it. Use NewCS to read the card. Use CCcam to connect to NewCS NOT the reader (done with and N: line).. then use HADU or FLYCCcam windows plugins to connect to CCcam.. this ends up a very stable NDS capable HTPC.

    Cheers

Sounds interseting. I've managed to get the system working with NewCS and Acamd, for the most part. Still having a few problems, like NewCS giving me "Unkown Card" on startup and not working until I stop DVBlink, DVBViwer and NewCS and them restart them.

I also have problems with the screen freezing then catching up after a few seconds. Especially when I recording off the satellite, or I go into the Recorded TV folder while recording.

Unknown card usually happens if the card detect is ON. It should be off.. try that... I have also know the BAUD RATE to be wrong and cause problems. If you keep getting drama's with the serial port buy a 25 buck serial PCI card... solves a lot of problems! The MainBoard serial COM ports can be troublesome... I have tried newcs on winxp on about 8 computers and i believe 2 worked with newcs properly without putting in the pci card. just idea's from experience... Also, Acamd and WinCSC in my experience, and this is by no means a knock on their operation or build, I have found are quite processor hungry... I can run with Hadu and record/pause live tv on a 1800xp athlon. its not perfect but it doesnt struggle that much.

That's an understatement. Whilst Acamd v0.5.1.0 works great and does the job fine the v0.6+ versions are buggy resource hungry memory leaking shite. So much for progress.

A bit of a thread revival here, but I figured it probably wasn't worth opening a new thread.

I am trying to get DVBLink set up on my PC for a USB DVB-S tuner I've got. With the software that came with the card I don't have any problems (can see the free services on C1/D3 like TVSN, help channel etc after entering the LNB settings - 10700, 10700, 11800).
I am unsure what settings to use for the LNB in the "TVSource Configuration" Headends tab.

    Options are:
LNB type: C-Band, Ku-Circular, Ku-Linear (Universal), NA Bandstacked C, NA Bandstacked DP Ku-Hi (DSS), NA Bandstacked DP Ku-Lo (FSS), NA Bandstacked Ku-Hi (DSS), NA Bandstacked Ku-Lo (FSS), NA Legacy.

    LOF1 <enter number>

    LOF2 <enter number>

    LOF SW <enter number>

Provider (obviously this one will be Optus C1,D3)

Does anyone know what I should be setting here?

    I'm assuming LOF1 = 10700000, LOF2 = 10700000, LOF SW = 11800000.
These are the settings that work on my dreambox with the same LNB and also work with the software that came with the DVB-S card, but they aren't working with DVBLink TVSource

I dont know much about all this stuff, but I would think "Ku-Linear (Universal)" would be your best option, as that sounds most like what Foxtel uses

It works for me with settings (Fox):
    10700000 for all 3
    Ku-Circular.
