Default AsiaSat 4 - how to watch HTV7? ku Band

    Hi,
I'm a noob to all this satellite stuff. (started 3 weeks ago)
Since my uncle bought a house and the old owner left his 65 cm dish there, I got a sat receiver off ebay for $10 to start mucking around and a sat finder kit+$.
I've managed to receive AsiaSat 4 at 122.2°E and get some free channels from 12430 V, just wondering if I could get the vietnamese channels from 12402 V.
What is SkyPoint and what subscriber do I need to contact, I can't find any info about this encryption?

Is it a onetime payment for the card or monthly fees?

Are there any FTA ku band vietnamese channels on other sats that can be received from Sydney? I know there's vinasat 1 c band. But not thinking of getting a C band dish yet, I'm still mucking around with the ku band dish since it was for free.

    Thanks for your support guys.

You've done well for a newcomer to satellite television in successfully finding another satellite and loading channels as you have described. Congratulations!

The encryption system in use is SkyPilot, not SkyPoint. This might explain your lack of success in finding information.

I'm not aware of more fta (free-to-air) Vietnamese channels other than on C-band (as you have already discovered).

If you haven't already done so, a quick SEARCH of these forums (using the SEARCH button at top of page), will reveal that there is some information in the thread at , which might help to answer other questions you have asked.

Note that the channels on 12402,V are transmitted in a High Definition S2 format, therefore an High Definition DVB S2 satellite receiver is necessary to resolve them.

    Thanks Tristen for the help.
I didn't realize I kept typing SkyPoint instead of SkyPilot, hehehe.
So does that mean I would need to purchase special satellite receiver that has the SkyPilot decoder embedded?
Which I presume would be sold overseas on the other Ku Beams from AS4 bird?
I guess I'll stop with the satellites until they shoot up a Vinasat 2 with Ku Beam to Australasia [hahah, I wish]
    Cheers

I assume that you would need to purchase the appropriate receiver (with embedded SkyPilot) as part of a subscription "package" from whichever pay-tv company provides those particular channels.

I suppose that it will be a domestic Vietnamese pay-tv providor, so perhaps a bit of Google "sleuthing" is called for.

You could also try clicking on the links to the various Vietnamese channels' websites, such as shown on the Lyngsat listing for Asiasat 4 at

Once you have done that, send an e-mail message asking for subscription details, although you will probably find that only domestic (Vietnam) subscriptions will be available. If that is the case, you would need to arrange for someone in Vietnam to subscribe and to forward the necessary equipment to you.

Yes very well done for a 65cm dish, although it does help when a bird has TP's the strength of these on As4

Skypilot was changed straight from Viaccess system, therefore is hackproof.

If you want to pay go down to your local viet communty hall or shopping district and ask there will be someone on selling cards the demise of viet video shop would indicate that they are getting sat services

Vinasat1 also broadcasts on Ku band ()

You can get HTV 1,2,3,4,7,9 channels for free provided you have a HD receiver

I doubt you would have any hope of receiving Ku of this sat.
