    Default dm500s scart-component output

    Two fold question here:

    1. Does anyuse rate using the scart to component cable on a dm500s?

    2. I was reading online that there are (or previously) some software issues with certain images. Does Gemini have a problem with this output method? Could be me just stuffing around but I have not been able to get any picture with this as yet. Possbly a setting on the dreambox but maybe it's not so good anyway. Another possibility is that I also had composite connected at the same time so possibly only one output at a time will work.

    Thanks for any input.

... not sure if you are refering above that you don't get a 'picture' due to your video interface from DM to TV / Screen ... OR ... you don't get a picture no matter what you do or settings you have ...

.. if its the latter ... then you could be NOT receiving any signals ... there are too many things to cover just now ...

The real question is ... when you power-up he DM and it has a video (any type) connection to your tv / screen - do you get any boot messages / logos?
If you do - then you can now try to 'tune' the picture quality with the type of interface / settings available to you.... through the A/V menu setting

Full scart connection to a TV supporting full scart (RGB) will yeild best video quality - so you don't need component as its derived from the RGB signals and you might as well use the 'real' thing if your equipment supports it.

... hope the above info is helpful

Sorry I should have indicated that composite works fine.
my TV does not have a SCART interface hence the component cables.

you can get a scart to component cable. On a DM500 I have I found the composite out to be better than the component out via the scart! Yes I was suprised also. The reds in a pic were more noticable bleeding using component.

I am using a scart to component cable on my dm500 and on the LCD in my study the picture is far better than the composite. I don't know if this is the dm or the TV.

I haven't done a compare with the 7020 yet. Maybe I should pull my finger out!

    Default scart cable

i'm using one of these scart to component cables i got from here --> with my DM500s clone on my LCD TV and the quality is superior to the composite cables... image is much more sharper around the edges.
