Default HITACHI 42PMA400A - no picture.....

    Hi!

I've got a Hitachi 42PMA400A which when switched on the green light comes on and picture screen is visible for a split second, then no picture then LED goes to orange stays in orange until you connect an input - then relay clicks, LED goes back to green indicating that an input is present, but no pic.

Anyone have a list of common faults for this one?

    CHEERS in advance.......Knight.

There is a simple fix for this problem. Replace two caps on the YSUS board. Works every time. PM me for details.

    G'day !!!

I must admit, I only JUST read the posts here re: a fix for the unit.....i had given up hope of finding a fix here on Austech, and found exactly the fix that FLORRA describes above...

    2 caps.......I couldn't believe it!!!

Anyway, thankyou!! for the info offer.

I don't suppose you have a fix for an NEC 42MP2 that is exhibiting the EXACT same symptoms as the Hitachi was??

On powerup, you can hear the relay click, the LED changes from red to green then clicks and back to red.

Any commons for that one?? Every fuse tests ok and all "looks" good...

    CHEERS!!!

    Knight

are you TRYING to give me knightmares, images like that inspire fear among the troops/techs, please refrain from posting pix of such bad engineering, repeated exposure is not good!

yep, exactly. caps go left field for 9 out of 10 it's to much ripple, either being caused by not enough rectification to start with, or WAY to much load, either way, its the way it was designed, and it can be dangerous to try re-engineering the buggers, just went looking for pix of one that burnt up, literally caught fire on cust wall, lucky they had an extinguisher....

(went looking for the pix, i've got that many photos of lg serial numbers cant find the fire damage ones... why have i got photos of serial numbers, cause back then it was the only way that i could get paid by the buggers, had to proove the repair eveytime.... hence i dont lg under warranty)

if you change the caps make sure they are the same value, cuase if it burns down the house and you've changed any values/design then you're liable!!!!
