Default DREAMUP error - aborted by user ?

    Hi guys,

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me ....

I have tried 3 different downloads of DREAMUP and I get the same result...
Dreamup can see my DM500 and I can backup without a problem.
When I go to flash with an image (doesnt matter what image - Ive tried 4) it runs for 20 seconds then stops with a message saying "Aborted by user"

    It's always between 20 - 22 seconds ...

    I've tried 3 PC's and same error ...
I have 4 DM500 clones and three of them are doing the same thing.

The other one starts up and hangs up with a message "FATAL ERROR NOT showSmartCAM"

All this has happened after I flashed with Gemini Image (GP project) via DCC ...

The null modem cable I'm using is universal with 9 pin and 25 pin plugs about a meter long ...

Could it be the null modem cable ?
Is there any dreamup / bios com port time out settings I need to edit ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated ...

    Regards

    Rick
    Sydney.

Sorry to say, but I think the Gemini image has killed your box, there has been posts about it that Gemini images kill clone dreambox's. But again, it also can be your computer causing the errors, try using another PC.

He has already tried 3 PC's there are posts on some forums where you can bring them back to life via jtag

Put the box into stop mode using dreamup and then try to flash using the web interface.
Thats how i got one of mine to flash when it was giving user abort.
Also check your security setting and make sure dreamup is allowed through firewall if you have one.

From memory, Gemini adios amigo, killed the bootloader, so Dreamup wouldn't connect to the dream at all, if I'm remembering correctly, this sounds like a different problem.

Have had the same issues here.
    Aborted by user everytime.
I rename the file root.cramfs then put put it into temp folder using DCC
then go to box using remote and select manual software update.
I havent been able to use dreamup on any of the newer boxs.
the old silver dm's worked fine but the newer ones always give me grief.
Got 4 bricks to prove it.

Thanks for the replys guys ...

I deactivated my firewall and allowed everything so I dont think it's that ....

    STATESMANJEFF:
If I knew the IP address I'd use DCC and fix the one that hangs on start up ...

    LINZ:
If I knew the IP's of the other boxes I'd go the web way with dreamup but unfortunately they have changed ! ! !

    DHCP was is probably ticked

Is there any way I can ping or sniff all IP's in all ranges to find a connected dreambox ???

I have also jtagged all 3 of them successfully .... "Congratulations" - "Amigo" - "Complete" !
Then again with dreamup it goes for 20 secs and still errors "Aborted by user" ???

There is something going on with this 20 sec prob ...

Do you think if I made a shorter null modem cable I'd be more successfull ???

I know it makes a difference for jtagging (100mm max) which is how long I made it and it worked fine.

Running out of ideas here and that new work hammer I purchased is gunna get a work out VERY SOON ....

So peed off --- I knew I should have flashed a new image one box at a time just incase ......

    I'm gunna scream !!! LOL.

Yes, with DCC. Under the IP address of your dreambox you'll see a Search button, click on that, set the search limits and hit search.
