Default Bluray Burners - Tech Mature Enough?

Ive put off buying a bluray writer for quite a while now.
Like all new technology it was very expensive when it was released, if i can remember correctly the first consumer orientated drivers were around the $1200 mark (similar to the price of CD writers in the early phases).

Just wanting to hear feedback from people who own the current generation of writers? Any issues / problems?

    What models are everyone using?

How about media? Whats the pricing like on those?

What i really want to be able to do is make a backup copy of my bluray movie collection, particularly the limited edition boxed sets. Do i need dual layer media for the movies? I would like to make a 1:1 copy of the disc if possible.

Love to hear some feedback from you guys

    Cheers

I got myself a cheap lg burner to back up my 3d blurays and havent had a problem. Although i can take a while (compared to a dvd) to read it, especially the 50 gb disc's that i have been using. I found ebay to be the cheapest abd best place to get the media especially in my case as the store's dont stock 50 gb dosc's. But in the end it has been the best $200 ive spent.
Stop being so stupid.. it’s my turn!!
